Betty G. Porter

Betty G. Porter, 95, formerly of Wilson Borough, died Friday, August 26, 2016 in Sacred Heart Senior Living, Center Valley.

Born September 24, 1920 in Windber, PA, she was the daughter of the late W. Ford and Frances (Williams) Gibson.  Her husband, Ernest Brader Porter died in 1999.

Betty was a Home Economics teacher at Windber High School and Wilson Area High School.  She received a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Pennsylvania State University and was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.  She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Borough and was an avid bridge player.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph Craig Porter and his wife, Wendy, of Center Valley; Gary Williams Porter of Anchorage, Alaska; and Bruce David Porter and his wife, Cynthia, of San Jose, California; five grandchildren, Jessica Weaver and her husband William of Mililani, Hawaii; Jason Porter of Anchorage, Alaska; Heather McCue and her husband Louis of Anchorage, Alaska; and Joseph Porter and McKay Porter of San Jose, California; and a great granddaughter, Becca of Anchorage, Alaska.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 2, 2016 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 6 – 7:30 pm on Thursday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.  Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.
