Carl R. Golden, Sr.

Carl R. Golden, Sr., 89, of Bethlehem Twp., PA formerly of Wilson Borough, PA died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill.

Born February 16, 1925 in Wilson Borough, PA he was a son of the late George M. and Ida (Rilbernd) Golden. He and his wife, Elaine (Fluck) Golden have been married for 65 years.

He had been employed by Alpha Portland Cement, Easton for 22 years before retiring in 1979. He also owned Golden’s Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Service from 1976 to 1989. Prior to that he had his own ice cream business. He was a Corporal in the 13th Airborne Division of the Army during WWII. Carl was a member of the former Memorial United Church of Christ, now New Creation UCC, Palmer Twp. He was on the Board of Directors and membership chair for NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Lehigh Valley Chapter and was a past president and life member of Hay School, Wilson Borough.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; two sons: Carl R., Jr. of Easton, PA, Mark G. and his wife Cynthia of Collegeville, PA, a daughter: Adele R. Meredith and her husband: Walter of Newark, DE; and 4 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter and 7 siblings.

Services will be held 11 AM Monday (Oct. 20) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA with visitation from 10 to 11 AM. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
