Grace D. (Fahl) Kraus

Grace D. (Fahl) Kraus, 93 of Easton, PA died Sunday, February 7, 2016 at ManorCare, Old Orchard. Born May 19, 1922 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Mohr) Fahl. A graduate of Easton High School, she had been employed by Easton Sanitary Laundry and Lafayette Cleaners before retiring from A & H Sportswear in Easton after many years. Grace made the news and will be remembered for fending off a home intruder who had showered at her house and was eating fried chicken when she returned home.

She was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and longtime member of the former Christ Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Easton Elks Women’s Auxiliary; West Easton Fire Co.; Wilson Republican Club; Wilson Democratic Club; Junior Order of United American Mechanics; and ILGWU.

Grace loved attending Easton High School sporting events and traveling, especially on cruises and to Daytona Beach. She was also proud of her many years volunteering at Easton Hospital, the friends she made there and the time she spent at the Easton Southside Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughter: Lynne Berger and her husband Victor, III of Bethlehem Twp., PA; two grandchildren: Victor Berger, IV and his wife Ann, Tracy Berger and her boyfriend Joe Schnierlein; great-granddaughter: Ruby; and her beloved and attentive niece and nephew: Sis and Ralph Powell. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband William H. Kraus in 2008; siblings: Albert Fahl and Betty Fleming; and her beloved dog Jambi.

Services are 2 PM Thursday, Feb. 11 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton Street, Easton with a calling period from 1 to 1:45 PM. Interment is in Easton Cemetery.

    Lynne, so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. She fought a good fight but is now with your dad whom she missed so much. May she rest in peace.
