May Josephine West, 92, formerly of Palmer Twp., PA died Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Country Meadows, Bethlehem Twp., PA. Born November 25, 1921 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late John P. and Gertrude O. (Kummer) Chandler.

A 1939 graduate of Easton High School, she had been employed by Bixler’s Jewelry Store in Easton for 24 years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Palmer Moravian Church, Palmer Twp. where served as a Sacristan and was active in their Women’s Fellowship group. She was also a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

She is survived by her daughter: Trudy E. Slawik and her husband Gary of Belvidere, NJ; a brother: Donald W. Chandler of Clearwater, FL; and a granddaughter: Erica Kish-Palos of Palmer Twp., PA. Her husband James L. West died in 2009 and her sister: Margaret C. Brotzman died in 1966.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 18)  in Palmer Moravian Church, 2901 John St., Easton, PA with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton, PA is handling the arrangements.

    Trudy, I was so sorry to read about the passing of your mom. I always enjoyed working with your mom at Bixler’s. She made working fun! I know that she will be missed by all. My deepest sympathy to you and Erica.

    Dear Trudy, I am so sorry to hear about your Mother. Your Mom & Dad treated me like a 2nd daughter growing up. I will never forget her, all of the family get together’s and the vacations in Lavallette NJ! I remember Aunt Gert and my Mom, aka: Sarah & Sarah, walking the beach along with your Mom. I have wonderful memories of your family. Erica and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
