Marlene L. Odenwelder

Marlene L. Odenwelder, 81, of Saylorsburg, PA formerly of Easton, PA died Monday, November 17, 2014 in the VNA Hospice of Monroe County. Born October 25, 1933 in Allentown, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles and Althea (Lich) Lichtenwalner .

She was a 1951 graduate of Easton High School where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. She was also a member of the  Earl Held All Girl’s Band and had been employed by Bushkill Paper, Binney & Smith, Sherwood’s Toy Store, Sear’s in Bangor and as a cook at Camp Hugh Beaver and Camp Brainard. She was a member of the Bangor-Roseto Presbyterian Church and Women’s Optimist Club.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years: Charles G. Odenwelder, Sr.; 4 children: Charles Odenwelder, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Pen Argyl, PA, Janet Altemuse and her husband Kim of Saylorsburg, PA, Thomas Odenwelder and his wife Ruth of Saylorsburg, PA, Paul Odenwelder and his wife Traci of Indianapolis, IN; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother: Charles Lichtenwalner.

Services will be held  11:00 a.m. Saturday (Nov.22) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m.  Interment will be in Wind Gap Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 VNA Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 or the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 282, Brodheadsville, PA 18322.

    Paul I’m so sorry for the loss of your mother, it isn’t easy by no means but you have a wonderful and strong family who will stick together and get through this. Keep remembering all the happy times you had with her. Sincerely Arlene Riker
