Nancy Brainerd Foltz

Nancy Brainerd Foltz passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Easton Hospital after a brief illness. She was born February 3, 1930 and was a life-long resident of Easton. Her parents were Howard S & Elizabeth (Shipley) Brainerd. Her husband, William A Foltz, predeceased her in 1971.

She graduated from the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA and from Smith College, majoring in English.

She was a businesswoman and philanthropist. She served as Treasurer of the Children’s Aid Society of Easton and on the board of its successor, Wiley House. She also served as a Trustee of Easton Hospital, and was devoted to Northampton Community College, which her husband helped found. She was a life-long member of the College Hill Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her four sons, Robert of Easton, Howard and his wife Pamela, of Bethlehem, David and his wife Cyrene, of Westfield, NJ, and Jonathan and his wife, Isabel, of Wilton, CT, and by nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Her brother, Stanford, who predeceased her in 2014, is survived by his wife, Wendy, three children and seven grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the William A Foltz Scholarship Endowment at Northampton Community College Foundation, 3835 Green Pond Road Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18020.

The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14th at 2PM at College Hill Presbyterian Church at 501 Brodhead St., Easton, PA  18042, with calling hours beforehand at the Church at 1PM. Interment will be private at Rock Landing Cemetery in Haddam Neck, CT.
