Steven M. Mulrooney

August 5, 2015

Steven “Bub” Mulrooney passed away at home on August 5, 2015 at the age of 21.

Steven is lovingly remembered by his parents, Thomas and Beverly Mulrooney; and his siblings: Shannon Felici, Lauren Mulrooney, Meghan Mulrooney, Brian Mulrooney, Erin Mulrooney, and Kelly Dix.

Steven was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on April 29, 1994. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 2013. Steven aspired to continue a career in the auto mechanic industry since he enjoyed fixing cars so much.

Steven was a lover of the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, working on the farm, and camping. Getting dirty in the fields with dirt bikes, four wheelers and trucks was a passion of his. Steven was also an avid member of the Phillipsburg FFA Chapter during his time at PHS. Steven particularly enjoyed being a goof, and torturing his sister Erin was a favorite pastime of his. Anyone who knows Bub knows that camo, Fords, John Deere, his boots, and hats were a few of his favorite things. While all of these things are very representative of Steven, a memory of him would not be complete without him riding his multi-colored bike wherever he wanted to go.

The visitation will be held at Phillipsburg Alliance Church, 255 Lincoln Street, Phillipsburg, NJ on August 13, 2015 from 8:30-10:30. The funeral service will be held directly following the visitation with Pastor Randy Nelson officiating. Burial to follow the funeral service will take place at the Forks Cemetery on Sullivan Trail.  A reception will take place at Alpha Park on Vulcanite Ave.  following the burial.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.  Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Phillipsburg Chapter of Celebrate Recovery at the Phillipsburg Alliance Church.

12 condolences. Notify me of additional condolences.

Steven was an amazing person and like a brother to me there isn’t one memory I have of him that isn’t great. He is missed and will continue to be. I know he will always be with his family in spirit watching them and assuring them in his own way that he is OK. The Mulrooney family has suffered a great loss. I love you guys.

Words can not express how deeply sorry i am for the loss of Bub, he was such a great kid with a smile that would melt your heart!!! I wish i could be there in person to give you all hugs. As i leave to start my cross country drive to my new home, i will be tear felt seeing all the sights, open fields and mountains thinking of Steven and his free spirit, and how he would be saying ” I’m hoping in the moving truck”. He was as much as Nephew to me as my own, i will never forget him…

We are still in shock! I hope that Steven finds peace where he couldn’t in this world. He touched so many of our lives. I hope he realized how important he was to all of us. The twins lives have been touched by his kindness, love and genuineness. He took Anthony under his wing when he had no one and included him treating him like he were no different than him and his friends. He was quick with a hug and always had a smile on his face. He was someone you couldn’t stay mad at. His love for his family was evident by the look in his eyes when he spoke about one of them. His laughter was contagious and he will be missed beyond words.

Steven was one of my best friends. He was always there whenever I needed him, whether I need a smile planted on my face or I needed someone to just make me laugh. He was always there to listen to me and help me to get through anything I needed to. He’s the sweetest guy that I’ve ever met. He’s someone who’s definitely irreplaceable and he will be missed by many. Still doesn’t seem real to me… Rest easy, Bub!! You’ll forever be loved and missed! I love you, sweet boy!

I have met some of the Mulrooney family, but I did not really know Steven. However, myself and all of the fellow teachers that work with his sister, Lauren Mulrooney, adore her. She is a smart, kind, and compassionate person who always spoke lovingly of her family. Lauren is a part of our “School” family, and we are a pretty tight knit group. When one of us hurts, we all do. With that being said, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of the Mulrooney family during this sad and difficult time. May God comfort and help heal your hearts, and may all the fond memories that you have of Steven stay with you always and bring a smile to your faces.

Steven was the kindest person I had the pleasure of spending so much time with. He had a smile that could make anyone smile if that didn’t work he would do whatever he could to make someone laugh. I have literally seen him give his hoodie to a homeless guy. He was a brother to me and a great friend of so many. All my love and prayers to his family!! <3

I am truly sorry to hear about the loss of Steven. I met him in November and spent only a week with him during one of the worst times in my life. When Steven and I realized we were both from Phillipsburg, we had many stories to share. I will never forget asking him one of those days “are you always this happy?” His response was “Yes, I try to always stay positive.” That stays in my mind hearing a young man with such an optimistic personality. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. No words can make the pain go away, but know that he had a positive impact on others lives.
