Born Oct. 16, 1915 in Alpha, NJ she was a daughter of the late Minna (Sara) and Jacob Nussman. She grew up in Alpha and Phillipsburg, graduated from Lesley College and married Herbert Carle.  They lived in Phillipsburg until sons Larry and Jeffry graduated High School at which time they moved to Easton.

Sylvia ran a preschool daycare center, owned a stationary store with Herb and ultimately retired as a services worker for the state of PA. We are sad to hear of the passing of our cousin, stepmother, step-mother-in-law and friend. From the time I was little I remember family visits with Sylvia. I remember the rib roast she brought to our house with each visit. Later, she became our stepmother and mother-in-law. We had many visits, calls, and cards until the end of her 102 years.
She had a wonderful nature – a magical spirit toward life and all who knew her. She will be missed.
