Raymond William Millhime

Raymond William Millhime, 88, of Palmer Twp. died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in his home.

Born: January 2, 1924 in Dushore, PA he was a son of the late Henry and Luvernia Bartlow Millhime.

Personal: He had been a police officer and body guard for Doris Duke before retiring from Magnesium Electron, Ltd. in New Jersey. A highly decorated WWII Navy veteran he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Navy Commendation Medal. His ship, the USS Bataan served in 7 naval battles in the Pacific and was present when the surrender was signed by the Japanese. He was also a veteran of the Battle of the Philippine Sea and the invasion and siege of Iwo Jima.

Memberships: He was a member of New Creation UCC, Palmer Twp. and was the AVAWT Commander of the American Veterans, Post #1776 in Washington Twp., NJ; life member of Darcy Lodge, F&AM, Lambertville and Past Worthy Patron, O.E.S, Washington Chapter.

Survivors: 6 children: Mark and his wife Kathy, Beverly Pickering and her husband Rob of Easton; James and his wife Monica of Durham, ME; Michael and his wife Kristen of Portland, OR; Joy Holmes and her husband Ed of Gresham, OR; Bonnie Snyder of Flemington, NJ; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday (7/7) in the church, 3730 Nicholas St., Easton, PA with a calling period from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday (tonight) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be Noon Monday in Fairview Cemetery, Dushore,  PA with Military Honors.
