David Dicker

David Harry Dicker, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024 from congestive heart failure and end-stage renal disease. He was born on September 9, 1946 in Easton, the youngest of Violet (Seiple) and David F. Dicker’s three children. He graduated from Easton High School in 1964 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Penn State in 1968. Dave met his wife, Susan, in 1977 and they married in Moorestown on September 15, 1979. They moved to Bangor in 1980 where they renovated their first home (originally dubbed “the Halloween house”) and had their daughter, Kelsey, in 1986.

Dave worked at Roche in Belvidere, NJ for 25 years, retiring in 2002. He also worked as a bartender at various places across the Lehigh Valley, most recently at the Stroudsmoor. Dave enjoyed watching Penn State football, golfing, playing rec league sports, and being a part of his regular poker game. Throughout his life, Dave was an avid traveler in the continental US, notably having twice camped cross country for several months. He happily visited his 50th state, Hawaii, with Sue in 2018.

David was an organ donor and a member of the Humanity Gifts Registry, two causes that he urged everyone to consider being a part of. He was a proud registered Democrat and voted in every election (“early and often!”), often sharing the trip to the polls with Kelsey to instill the same values in her.
David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan, of Bangor; daughter, Kelsey Leigh, and grandson, Carter, of Pittsburgh; and sister, Joan Schaible and niece, Diane Nowakowski, of Easton.

The family will host a private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, Sue and Kelsey suggest a donation to the Pennsylvania Parks and Forest Foundations (https://paparksandforests.org/) in honor of Dave’s many walks in and camping trips at PA’s beautiful state parks. You can also honor his memory by thinking of him when you cheer for Penn State, listen to Earth, Wind & Fire, or do your civic duty by casting your vote (especially this fall for Kamala Harris.) The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements. Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.

    Dear Sue, Kelsey, and Carter,
My deepest sympathy on the passing of David.
His beautifully written obituary is a testament to his life well lived. I always enjoyed conversations with him at Aurelia’s picnics. You can count on me to be thinking of him as I cheer on Penn State, as I listen to Earth, Wind, and Fire, (September) and as I cast my vote in the upcoming election!

May David rest in peace, free of pain.
    Sincerely,
    Joan Ronca
