
Dorothy E. Metzgar, 96, of Hellertown, formerly of College Hill, Easton died Thursday, May 26, 2011 in the VNA Hospice of St. Luke’s
Born: December 19, 1914 in Mt. Holly, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Mary Ewan.
Personal: She was a second grade teacher at the March Elementary School in Easton for 26 years before retiring. A graduate of Wilson High School and the West Chester State Teachers College, she loved to needlepoint and knit. She was the wife of the late John T. Metzgar.
Memberships: She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham and member of the century old Penelope Book Club and many bridge groups. She had also been a member of the former St. Peters Lutheran Church, Easton.
Survivors: a daughter, Mary Jo Hellick and her husband George, III of Hellertown; six grandchildren; Susanne Hellick, Jan Halliburton, Kate Finn, Joshua Kehler, Jeremy Kehler and Jennifer Kehler; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susanne Kehler.
Services: Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday June 3 in the Durham Ev. Lutheran Church, 821 Durham Road. Interment will be private in Easton Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home. 14th and Northampton Streets, Easton is in charge of arrangements.
