Shirley Ida Volkert, 81, of Palmer Township died Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Easton Hospital.
Born: July 12, 1930 in Bloomsbury, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Foose, Sr. and Beatrice (Steele) Foose Osborn.
Personal: She and her husband, Glenn G. Volkert were married 62 years. She retired from Martin Guitar. She was an avid bingo player and was a member of various social clubs in the Easton area.
Survivors: husband, Glenn; two daughters, Nancy Hutchison and her husband, Gary of Phillipsburg and Glenda Martin of Pen Argyl; a son, Bruce Volkert of Allentown; two brothers, Oscar Foose, Jr. and his wife, Gloria of Palmer Township and Jordan Foose of Nazareth; five sisters, Joan Apgar and her husband, Alan of Harmony Township; Lucille Riehl and her companion, John Scherer of Phillipsburg, Carol Grube and her husband, Jerry of Phillipsburg, Judy Moffo and her husband, George of Lake Wales, FL and Charma Hriczak and her companion, Barry Dornich of Harmony Township; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Four brothers, Ronald, Richard, Barry and Marshall died earlier.
Services: 11:00 am Wednesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Call from 10:00 am until service time on Wednesday.

I will always remember my Aunt Shirley’s beautiful smile along with her laugh, it would touch your very soul. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.

Sorry to hear of your loss. My mother ( Ruth Volkert) would of liked to of been able to attend the services for Shirley, unfortunately, I was away.. so she had no way of getting there.. since I am her ride.. We are very sorry.. We have good memories of her..My condolences to her family.
