
Bayla L. Cohen, 99, formerly of Palmer Twp., PA died Friday, August 05, 2016 in the Jewish Home at Rockleigh, NJ. Born September 26, 1916 in Scranton, PA she was the daughter of the late G. I. and Sarah (Groh) Lyons. Her husband Meyer S. Cohen died in 1993.
A 1934 graduate of Central High School in Scranton, she had worked as a legal secretary for Atty. Nathan Reibman and at the Easton Area Neighborhood Center for several years. She was a longtime member of Bnai Abraham Synagogue, Easton where she had been active in Hadassah, the Sisterhood and the choir. Bayla was a kind and gentle soul who loved playing the piano, singing, cooking and hosting family gatherings.
She is survived by two daughters: Jacquelyn Brown and her husband David of Nazareth, PA, Rachel Berkowitz and her husband Charles of Glen Rock, NJ; 4 grandchildren: Melissa Trach, Scott, Stephanie and Michael Berkowitz; and 8 great-grandchildren: Christopher, Courtney, Matthew, Lauren, Anna, Caroline, Chloe and Emma. She was predeceased by her husband Meyer and brothers: Joseph and Robert Lyons.
Services are 2 PM Tuesday, (Aug. 9) in the Bnai Abraham Synagogue, 1545 Bushkill St., Easton, PA, followed by interment in Bnai Abraham Cemetery, Forks Twp., PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Jackie and Rachel – So sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. She was so special – a very important person in my childhood. Your home and family were such a source of peace and gentleness .She always had a smile and a nice word. I know that her sweetness and kindness continues to radiate through those she knew and loved.
