Charles Francis LeeDecker, 102 formerly of Hershey, Camp Hill and State College, PA passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at Country Meadows, Bethlehem Twp., PA. Born November 20, 1916 in Newark, NJ he was a son of the late Catherine (Hussey) and Charles F. LeeDecker, Sr. He was the husband of 72 years to the late Esther (Spahr) LeeDecker. Charles was a graduate of Matamoras H.S. He earned his BA and PhD at Penn State Univ. and his MS from Syracuse Univ. His working career included teaching Government Administration at Penn State and later becoming the V.P. and Executive Director of the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs. While living at State College he was a member of and President of the Borough Council from 1947 to 1959. While in the Harrisburg area he served on both the Cumberland Co. and Dauphin Co. Planning Commissions. Charles was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Harrisburg and an active participant in the Adult Class. Charles and Esther traveled extensively in the U.S and abroad including an around the world trip. They enjoyed spending the winter months in Fairhope, AL.
Charles is survived by a son: Charles H. and his wife Carolyn of Columbia, SC, a daughter: Ann L. Young and her husband Thomas of Easton, PA , two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 15 South 4th St., Harrisburg, PA 17101 at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM in the church. .
