Thomas Austin Young Jr., beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on February 12th, 2019 at his Florida home surrounded by his loving family. Thomas (Tom) was born on January 6, 1939 in Bethlehem, PA to Doris (Redline) and Thomas Austin Young Sr. Raised in Bethlehem, Tom attended Bethlehem High School, where he played football. Tom then went onto attend the University of Pittsburgh, where he was a member of the soccer team and a brother of the Theta Chi Fraternity. Tom also coincidentally met the love of his life, Janice, during his time at the University of Pittsburgh. Post-graduation Tom followed in his father and grandfather’s footsteps and became a third-generation pharmacist, he then began working at Young’s Drug Store in Easton, PA. Additionally, Tom expanded the pharmacy business to two locations as well as entering the market of medical supplies, he then opened and operated Young’s Medical Equipment at multiple locations.
Tom was a devout member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. Often, he could be found enjoying time on the golf course, the ski slopes, reading his Kindle, or spending time with his beloved animals. He loved to travel, spend time with his friends and family, and attend shows at the theater. Tom was most passionate about Meals-On-Wheels, The Children’s Home of Easton, The State Theater, and All Hands where he helped the survivors of Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Katrina, and Hurricane Harvey.
Tom is survived by his true love and wife, Janice Young; four children: Thomas E. Young and spouse Paula Young, Jeanette Young and spouse Gary Krohg, Susan (Young) Crouthamel and spouse Scott Crouthamel and Joseph Young. Tom also leaves behind eight devoted grandchildren:Jessica Young, Kayla Young, Joseph Young and fiancé Perry Farhat, Alexandria Crouthamel and fiancé Nelson Feliciano Jr., Conner Nickerson, Shelby Nickerson, Scotty Crouthamel and Thomas J. Young. Also surviving are sisters: Jane Regina, Judy Craver and brother Bruce Young.
Services are 11 AM Tuesday (Feb. 19) at Epworth United Methodist Church, 3245 Oakland Rd., Bethlehem, PA with visitation 6 to 8 PM Monday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment is in Bethlehem Memorial Park.
