Kathleen Sloyer Bennett, 94, of Easton, PA, beloved and devoted wife of John D. Bennett, Jr. for 62 years, died on March 12 at Manor Care in Easton.
Born January 16, 1926 in Palmer Township, Kathleen was the daughter of Daniel and Amy (Durns) Sloyer of Easton, PA.
She was a 1944 graduate of Easton High School and a graduate of Willford Beauty Academy, NYC, owning Merry Beauty Shop in Easton for many years. Kathleen was active in several organizations throughout the area including Easton Hospital (women’s board), Powerhouse Crossing School Reunion (Chairperson) and Easton YWCA (Director).
Kathleen served on countless committees at Christ Lutheran Church of Easton where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Coordinator of Lunch Bunch, Chairperson of Social Ministry and a member of the Call Committee and Church Council. Additionally, she enjoyed a 50-year membership in the Easton Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, serving as President.
Kathleen enjoyed golf, cooking and travelling to many parts of the world with her husband yet still took pleasure in the simplicity of gardening in her own backyard. Kathleen’s greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family. She attended countless sporting events, recitals and events for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, survivors include sons Robert and wife Michelle of Center Valley; Daniel and wife Margaret of Palmer Township; Douglas and wife Lisa of Maineville, Ohio; daughter Anne Bennett-Morse and husband Scott of Forks Township. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Eric, David, Sarah, Avery and Caroline Bennett, London, Zephrin and Addison Morse and Joseph, Jared and Janelle Bidlow and four great grandchildren, Walker, Bristol, Paige and Colbie Bennett.
Services will be private at this time with a memorial service to be announced in late Spring or early Summer. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.
