Kathryn E. Johnson

July 17, 2021

Kathryn E. Johnson, 93, passed peacefully on Saturday, July 17 at the Renaissance Senior Home in Forks Township, PA. She was the loving wife of William C. Johnson with whom she shared 66 years of marriage before his passing in 2014. Born September 23, 1927, Kathryn was the daughter of the late Hervey A. Heitzman and Elsie G. Garr Heitzman. She was a 1945 graduate of Easton Area High School where she excelled in her art classes. She later attended Empire Beauty School in New York City.

Kathryn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Easton. She was an active member of the Forks of the Delaware Doll Club for many years, a founding member of the Eggs Original Club, and a lifetime juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen – Lehigh Valley Chapter. Many will remember Kathryn for her masterful egg art which she displayed and sold at local and regional arts and craft shows. In addition to egg art, crocheting, and other crafts, she enjoyed family vacations, dancing, gardening, baking, genealogy, and local history. In recent years, her cockapoo, Princess, was a faithful companion.

Kathryn will be remembered lovingly by her son Lawrence Johnson and his wife Cheryl of Easton, her grandchildren Krysta and Michael Rochon of Northampton, and Jennifer and Joshua Wanisko of Phillipsburg. She was the proud great-grandmother to Jazmyne Rochon and Lillian Wanisko and was awaiting the birth of a great-grandson. She is survived by sister Grace Frank and brother Hervey Heitzman, both of Forks, and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 28 at 10 AM in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with a calling period from 9:30 to 10 AM. Interment is in Forks Cemetery. Kathryn was a force of nature, and brought that passion to all she did. We have plenty of great memories of this wonderful lady. A very talented artist, she was always willing to share a technique or easier way of doing things with all who would care to learn. She was formative in both our club and our Egg Show’s existence. We will truly miss her guidance and presence.

Kathryn was a joy to know. I knew her through the Forks Area Art Society. She was a great artist. I always went to the Eggs Original shows to see her beautiful work. Her caring personality and sense of humor were precious. Know that she continues to live in your hearts.
