Charles E. Schubert, 90, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away peacefully Monday, August 1, 2022 at Francis House in Syracuse, NY. Born June 27, 1932 in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Rudolf and Wella (Mueller) Schubert. He was a 1950 graduate of Bethlehem High School and received his BS in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University in 1955 where he was a member of the ATO Fraternity.
Charles was a Manufacturing Engineer at Carrier Corp, Syracuse, NY for 29 years before retiring in 1987. In retirement, he had a successful business as a piano and player piano technician and tuner, fondly known as “Charlie the Tuner”. He was head piano technician for many years at Tringali Piano and Organ Co. and Martin’s Pianos in Syracuse. He was the piano technician for the Syracuse University Drama Department and Syracuse Stage for 14 years until 2001. He was also Director of Maintenance and Restoration for The Empire State Theater and Musical Instruments Museum from 1966 until 1997 and was an honorary life member. He oversaw the moving, restoring, and installing of the Wurlitzer Theater organ from the RKO Keith’s Theater, Syracuse to the current home at the NY State Fairgrounds. Charles was also a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Baldwinsville.
He is survived by his son: David (Cara) Schubert of Phoenix, NY; his daughter: Judy (Tim) Farrelly of Baldwinsville; grandchildren: Lucas (Angelina Roher) and Shannon Farrelly, Madeline and Allison Schubert and great-granddaughter: Sophia Farrelly. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years: Vera Dungan Schubert in 2006 and his brother Rudolph Schubert.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 AM Monday (August 8, 2022) at the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with a calling period from 10 to 10:30 AM. Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
