I was Arvids caregiver at St Barnabas from April 2010 until May 2011. Arvids was a sweet and gentle soul. Arvids shared his life story with me on coming to America and how they celebrated Christmas in Latvia. I would take my break and sit with Arvids to watch The Lawrence Welk show. He so enjoyed the music and dancing the show provided. He looked forward to the show every week. He also loved the old Cary Grant movies and once requested the original King Kong movie, I brought it in and he so enjoyed watching it. Arvids was like a grandfather for me and I loved and cared for him like he was. I was in awe over the drawings(he drew) that hung on his walls; he was very proud of them. Arvids would break out in the “Goodnight Irene” song when another caregiver, Irene, would stop at his room. Arvids touched my heart and I will never forget him. You will be missed but now you’re with your beloved wife, Ericka. I’m so honored to have known Arvids. Rest peacefully.
