Demetra Balakas, 88, of Forks Township, died Wednesday, January 18, 2023 in Gracedale. Born June 29, 1934 in Chionato, Kastoria, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Demetri and Anastasia (Ntandi) Hatzidemetriou. Her husband, Gust Balakas died in 2012. She was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.

Surviving are a son, William Balaskas and his wife, Corinne; a daughter, Anastasia Balaskas Herda; two brothers, Athanasi Hatzidemetriou and Kostas Hatzidemetriou; and three grandchildren, Connor, Morgan, and Ethan.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 23, 2023 in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Wilson Borough. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Monday in the church. Interment will be in The Historic Easton Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.     My deepest condolences on the loss of this loving and caring mother, grandmother, aunt. I will miss her, I have many fond memories of sitting at the kitchen table watching her whirl about taking care of her family, talking all the while.
