I will never forget Mrs. Klinger when we attended the open house at Palmer Elementary in the 1970’s. Our daughter was an elementary student of her’s in I guess 3rd grade. Mrs. Klinger had her back to the parents as she was writing something on the, yes, blackboards, when I said from the back of the room, “Hello Mrs. Klinger!” and she immediately spun around and said, “Well hello Billy Walters. And now I know its time to retire when I’m teaching children of children I taught in the 1950’s.” She heard and remembered my voice and only then did she realize she was teaching a 2nd generation child. I believe our daughter was her first “2nd generation” child she taught. And of course her husband also taught my wife and I both at Wilson High school. Rest well Mrs. Klinger.
