Gary was a dear friend and colleague. I knew him superficially from our days at the County, but met him at a Cape Cod professional conference in 2003. He was a friend, mentor, source of clinical, political, and humorous information. He was a very private person, so I was glad to be allowed in to his circle. We had multiple entertaining and worthwhile conversations at the gym, over dinner, and at trainings. The essence of Gary was that he was kind, compassionate, intelligent, well read, cynical and curious. He was a wonderful therapist and helped me to be a better therapist, always. I could count on him for support and good counsel. I am sure that his patients can say the same. I will miss his hearty hello and welcoming hugs. I am so sad for his family. friends, colleagues.and patients. I am especially sad that after a lifetime of caring for others, including his Mother and Aunt, he did not have the opportunity to care for himself and travel to destinations he wished to visit. I will miss your wit and wisdom. Much ❤️, jessie

Gary was one of the good guys, always friendly, smiling, and with a kind word. I only saw him occasionally since high school, but it was always a pleasant encounter. May his soul rest in peace.

I am shocked and so very, very sad. Gary and I met in high school and formed a very special bond that has lasted to this day. Gary was very special to me. He was the friend I went to with all my issues, not only in high school but as we went our separate ways on our respective life journeys. He helped me through some very difficult periods in my life and I like to think I was there for him in some of his difficult moments. Gary was in the right profession – his life’s purpose was to understand and help others. He was kind, understanding, and intelligent. I will miss him more than words can convey

Gary was my dear friend for over 36 years. I was so deeply saddened to hear of his passing.
I sent Gary a text a few days ago to see if we could arrange our monthly get-together for dinner. When Gary didn’t answer I was concerned because he was the most responsive, reliable and consistent person I knew.
Gary was a very complex and private person. He was also very kind and selfless and often put the needs of others before his own. He always tried to seek the good in others. He was intelligent, inquisitive, a voracious reader and the friend that every person wishes they had in their life.
I will miss our lively political discussions, his humor (and his hearty laugh), his insight, his wisdom and integrity.
Gary, you were a bright spot in my life and I will miss you so much. ❤️ Marian

So very sad to hear of Gary’s passing. He was a sweet and generous soul. I met Gary in high school and saw him periodically over the years. Always a great conversation at WAWA before rushing off to work. He will be greatly missed.

My condolences to Gary’s family, colleagues and friends. We went to high school together and stayed in touch afterward; I always appreciated Gary’s sense of humor, caring for friends, and commitment to helping others. I also admired all he did to make his home so warm and comfortable. We’ll remember him fondly and be inspired by his work.
