There are so many things I could say about this wonderful man, and my eyes are clouded with tears while I type this. Over the years, Uncle Bob was a second father to me…and at times he was my father. Who I am today is, in many respects, a tribute to him. But, as much as I grieve at his passing, I also smile at the memories of his smile, his laugh and his love of life. He taught me much, corrected me when I needed it and, I know, loved me always. I am truly blessed to have this generous soul in my life.

Remember to never go into the woods without a handful of sour balls in your pocket. Thank you Uncle Bob for offering us all that simple life’s lesson. I will never forget how such a simple gesture can change one’s life.

    Love you!

    Mark

Mr. Nolf as we called him at Echo Ridge Girl Scout Camp was a wonderful caretaker of the camp. I went there a number of summers and also every Spring with my mother’s troop as a helper for 10 years. He kept the camp so nice for us kids so we had a great memory for the rest of our lives.

I remember him telling me how to scare off the wild turkeys that roamed the camp – just run at the turkeys, not away from them. It worked too!

I am sorry to hear of his passing.
