Joan P. Smith, 79, of Forks Township, passed away at home with her family by her side on December 12, 2011.
Born: May 11, 1932 in Phillipsburg, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Sylvia Sampson. Though an only child, she had many family members who embraced her as a sister.
Personal: Joan was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School Class of 1950. She married her adoring husband, Robert, who honorably served his country in the United States Navy for twenty years while Joan worked in an administrative position for our government and raised their daughters. Known as a gracious hostess, her door and heart were always open. She loved to laugh and some of her happiest times were spent in North Carolina with her family.
Survivors: Joan will be lovingly remembered by her family. Daughter, Sylvia Smith; daughter, Kathleen Heiselmeyer and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Holly, Michael, Jennifer and Christine. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert and daughters, Juliet and Karen. Joan was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.
Services: At the request of the family, services will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.
Memorials: From the age of four, Joan was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Third Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Third Lutheran Church, 2561 Newburg Rd., Easton, PA 18045.

Patricia and Joan met as children at St. Paul’s and have remained friends throughout many years. Distance and time never changed their affection for each other. She always was a true friend and will be missed. I am so sorry for her family.
She was a special lady.

joan and i grew up together on front st. in p”burg.i have many happy memories of joan from that time.we were only a month apart in age as she was born in may and i in june.my deepest sympathy to her family.
