
Lloyd F. Best, Sr., 90, of Williams Township, PA, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 in Easton Hospital.
Born: August 21, 1920 in Easton, he was a son of the late Howard and Rosa Frace Best.
Personal: He had retired from the PA Dept. of Revenue in 1987, prior to that he was employed by Davidson and Hemmendinger, Best Enterprises, Von Bulow Co. and Bethlehem Steel. A 1938 graduate of Easton High School, he attended Lafayette College with a focus on metallurgy. He was a graduate of the NY Technical Institute in Electronics and was a Naval Aviation Radioman Tech during World War II serving in the South Pacific. He had also been elected to a 6 year term as an Auditor for Williams Township in 2002.
Memberships: He was a charter member of the PA Mineralogical Society and PA Earth Science Association. He was a life member of the American Legion and Lester Pfeiffer Home Association, a member of VFW, Post 1290, Order of the Fleas, Citizens Hose, Williams Township Sportsman Assoc., Easton Heritage Alliance, Von Steuben Society, German-American Social Club in FL, Dallas Lodge, F&AM #396, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Lehigh Consistory, and Rajah Temple Mystic Shrine.
Survivors: three sons, Lloyd, Jr. of Alpha, NJ, Howard of Williams Township, Franklin of West Easton; a daughter, Roseanne Brunetti of Allentown; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wives, the former Carolyn Schuler and Dolia Zankova.
Services: Masonic Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Sts., Easton, with a calling period from 10 to 11 a.m. Military Honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Moore Township.
