Auntie Lu passed on to me her life long love of all animals, especially, for me, horses. Every time I visited her I would share my latest tale of equine adventure. She would get that dreamy look and reflect on her time with Lady Bird, her wonderful mare. I used to love to visit the barn with her and my mom and then retreat to her house where, invariably, she had cooked up something from the garden. To this day, I love zucchini bread. She let me cook with her and she was so patient. Fittingly, on Christmas she gifted to my cooking crazy girls all kinds of culinary tools… successfully passing on that talent as well. I am so grateful to the role she played in my childhood: she taught me grown ups could stay fun, creative, and silly. I have tried to follow suit!

When my husband and I moved to Pittsford. New York, and met Luanne and Dave Miller, we became good friends. Luanne took me under her wing and was such a good friend. Over the years we lost touch but reconnected several years ago. I will miss her dearly.

I wish to send my deepest sympathy to all family members. Luanne and I go way back to the fifties. We would ride horseback together as she kept her wonderful horse PRIDE at Griffith Farm Stables. We did show our horses together in a horse show at CCR…Country Club of Rochester an event I shall remember forever. She was a wonderful friend for so many years. I use to see her often at Oak Hill and will never forget our times riding together when we were “kids”. She was truly the sweetest person…I know how much she will be missed! Love and Sympathy to all….Milly Eldredge

My mother Marilyn and I send our condolences to you on Luanne’s passing. We were neighbors of Stewart and Frances on Palmerston Road in Rochester. Many years later, my parents moved to Cranswick Lane and discovered both Frances and Luanne lived a few houses away. It was a nice reconnection for them. Wishing you peace at this sad time.

My husband, Jimmy Reader, was pastor of the United Church of Pittsford when Luanne was a member there and we remember her very fondly. She loved birds and gave us some bird feeders when she left her home. We are glad that we had the privilege of knowing her and having a short part in her life.

My friendship with Luanne began the day after we moved into our home in Pittsford. She showed up at the back door in mid-morning as we were unpacking bringing a plate of freshly baked cookies, a welcome, and an invitation to come for a glass of wine that evening just to get acquainted. She was truly the welcome wagon!
We spent time with each other throughout her years in the neighborhood. She dearly loved her brother, mother, children and grandchildren. Her love of Labrador Retrievers was well known!
She is sadly missed. She was kind and thoughtful and a great neighbor. We send our condolences to her entire family.
