Marie Ellen Round

June 21, 2023

Marie Ellen Round was born June 14, 1925, in Easton, PA. She was the daughter of Beatrice (Rice) Eagle and Aloyisis Eagle of Easton, PA. Marie was born and lived in Easton, PA until her husband, George Round passed in 2006 then moved to Mannford, OK to live with her daughter Ginny Paff and husband Willard Paff, Jr. She and her husband were married for 63 years when he passed.

She is survived by her daughter Ginny Paff and husband Willard Paff of Mannford, OK along with her six grandchildren, Kim Davis and her late husband Buddy Nance of Mannford, OK, Sheila Harmon and her husband Jamie Harmon of Cleveland, OK, George Greenfield Round and his wife Jeanie of California, John Round, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Kansas, George E Round and wife of Arizona, Jamie Round of Ohio. She is also survived by her brother Fran Eagle and his wife Jackie. She also had numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She graduated from Easton High School in 1943. She and George married right after that in the same year. They had three children, George, John, and Ginny and resided in Easton, PA. She worked various jobs and always volunteered making cakes and pies for their school. Her best achievement was becoming a nurse at the age of 42. She loved taking care of all her patients at Easton Area Hospital. Her love for people was always so evident. She had the opportunity to serve in this area for 20 years.

After she and her husband retired, they traveled all over the country and to Hawaii twice. They were always solemn about visiting Pearl Harbor where her husband was when the Japanese attacked. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Navy. They lived life to the fullest. She always had a smile on her face and never worried about a thing. She was a devout Catholic and had so much faith, always knew everything would work out the way it was supposed to.

It was a blessing for her to spend the last 17 years living in Oklahoma. She was such a joy to be around telling all her stories about her childhood and raising her children along with all their many trips. She was always encouraging and never complained.

Her daughter had the privilege of caring for her in their home, until she was called home by her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loved ones. Her daughter made sure she was always comfortable and had everything she needed to make the transition smooth. She promised her mother she would do whatever it took for her to stay in their home and she certainly did that.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, George Round, her parents, two sons, George T Round, Jr and John R Round. Her siblings, William Eagle, Lou Eagle, Ken Eagle, Catherine Lavelle, and Eleanor Austin. Her grandson Brian Round.

Thank you to Cura Hospice staff, Lynnette Mefford, Renee Ridener, Jennifer, Susan, John O’Brien and Jessica O’Dell for always going above and beyond the call of duty. You will never be forgotten for the special care you gave to our mother and grandmother.

A private service will be held at Ashton Funeral Home in Easton, PA and her final resting place will be at Hays Cemetery, Easton, PA.
