Mary Ann Barrett was a dear dear friend to so many in the community of Easton where she lived. Running errands, giving support, love and care to others made her smile. She took wonderful photographs of our family and was generous with them, ensuring that we all had copies. Her friendship was a joy and a comfort to my mother, Bette Walker, and Mary Ann was at her side when my mother died. I will be forever grateful to her for her warm heart and generosity of spirit. Thinking of you all at this sad time.

Those we love are always with us.
Their laughter, their wisdom, and their
thoughtfulness are gifts of love that are ours to keep.
May these gifts help console you now
and fill your hearts with their comforting
    warmth.
She was a wonderful person and friend.

Mary Ann and my grandma were close friends. Mary Ann called grandma every day at 7 pm. For as long as I can remember Mary Ann has always been there. We would look forward to her visits in her camper with her fuzzy companions. She was like family and I loved her very much. She was one of the most interesting people I have ever met. My favorite memory was when I went to visit her for a week and she took me to the wolf preserve to see the wolves. ( Also on that same visit she took me to the pet store and let me get a couple of tree frogs to take back to Maryland and that was the start of many tanks filled with reptiles and amphibians through out my teenage years). I’m lucky to have so many happy memories and a ton of pictures to go with them. My heart goes to her family. She will be greatly missed.

Although we were second cousins we never had the chance to meet; but that didn’t stop us from establishing a Christmas-letter correspondence, that continued through the decades. Mary Ann sent multi-page annual letters, describing her year’s adventures camping and traveling, illustrated with snapshots of her family and pets.

So, although I never saw her, I have a vivid picture of a kind and giving person, generous to humans and animals alike, who leaves behind many. many two-footed and four-footed friends who will miss her beautiful smile.
