Mary Dolores Shaughnessy Metz, 78, of Palmer Twp., PA died Thursday evening, October 11, 2018 at her home. Born March 30, 1940 in Atchison, Kansas she was a daughter of the late Dolores (Kramer) and Edward Boos. In 1961, she married the late Edward Shaughnessy, former Professor at Lafayette College, with whom she had two sons. Her husband Bernard J. Metz, Sr. died in December of 2017. She was a graduate of Mt. St. Scholastica and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a nurse for over 50 years, primarily at Easton Hospital, before retiring in 2013. She was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church. She was a devoted Wife and Mother, an exceptional gardener, and brought light, laughter and joy to all who knew her. She was no stranger to fun.
She is survived by her sons: Atty. Edward Shaughnessy (wife Ellen), Michael Shaughnessy; step-sons: David Parsons (wife Barbara), BJ Metz, Jr. (wife Kristie Hoeflein) and brothers: Ed and Phil Boos. Siblings Ray and Joanne died earlier.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Easton with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements. Interment will be private in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Mary’s passing has saddened all of us. We are happy we had her in our lives for the last 26 yearsll. She was always gracious, beautiful, kind and generous—A very good person. We will miss her.
