Mildred Emily (Pastorius) Kovar passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, in Nazareth, PA after a long illness. She was 89. Millie was born and raised in Pittsburgh and graduated from Brentwood High School and the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. Moving to Easton in 1966 with her family she devoted herself to Republican Party politics and was a State Committeewoman for many years representing Palmer Township. She was a great admirer of Ronald Reagan, was an alternate delegate to the Republic National Conventions in 1976 and 1980, and enthusiastically supported his nomination and subsequent election.
She was also elected to the Easton Area School Board, volunteered widely, and was a member of numerous social clubs. She had an abiding love for animals. A devoted traveler, Millie visited her sons and their families in countries all over the world and traveled herself to many more, including Antarctica and South Africa. Although her nursing career was interrupted by family and children, she returned to it in the late 1980s, when she spent over a decade at the Lafayette College health center.
She is survived by her four sons: Robert of Doylestown, PA, Jeffrey (Katherine) of Washington DC, James (Maida) of Guatemala City, and Jonathan (Elizabeth) of Contoocook, NH; by her ten grandchildren; her brother: James Pastorius of Scotland, PA and her sister: Alice Pastorius of Williamsburg, VA.
Services are private with interment in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Contributions in her memory may be directed to the Center for Animal Health and Welfare in Williams Township or to the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, TN. Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com

The entire Biedlingmaier extends sincere condolences on Millie’s passing…. Family friends for over 50 years… and in awe of her joie de vie and total engagement with the world. So assuring that she saw her children and grandchildren achieve such tremendous success – and able to carry on her list for kids, learning, and devotion to the animal Kingdom. Rest well after a life so deeply engaged. Condolences to Robert, Jeff, Jonathan, and Jimmie. Mark B

I met Millie in 1989 when I started working as a nurse at Lafayette College Health Center. In the spring of 1990 we attended a nursing conference together in Boston.
We spent many hours walking around the city getting to know each other. I remember stopping in the Boston Market Disney store shopping for grand daughter Audrey.
I enjoyed hearing about all her travel adventures over the years and seeing her at all the Lafayette basketball games.
My condolences to “her boys” and the entire family whom she loved and treasured.

I am so sad to see Millies passing. I got to spend time with her at Moravian Hall Square when my dad was living there before his passing. She was always up for chatting and was so proud of her son’s and grandchildren. Sharing many great stories about them.

I am sorry to be catching up on news and to discover Millie’s obituary. We’ve been out of touch since we moved to Kirkland Village in 2016. We often ran into Millie at Wegman’s in Lower Nazareth when she would bring news of her fabulous sons. She was a stellar citizen, serving wherever a strong opinion was needed. She spoke her mind clearly and articulately, never leaving a doubt about what she felt was important. She was a good mother, supporting her sons in their varied activities. She was one of a kind, and will be greatly missed by those who loved her best. Heaven needs strong advocates, too.
