Karen R. Vazquies

Karen R. Vazquies, 64 of Easton, PA died Saturday, August 17, 2019 at home. Born September 15, 1954 in Fountainhill, PA she was a daughter of the late Doris (Naylor) and Lester Vazquies. Karen was a graduate of Saucon Valley High School.

She is survived by her life partner Susan Shupp with whom she resided; sister: Linda Vazquies of Bethlehem, PA; brothers: Larry Vazquies in CO, Ronald Vazquies of Breinigsville, PA; nieces and nephews.

Services are 10:30 AM Friday (August 23) in Christ United Methodist Church, 400 W. Berwick St., Easton with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements. Interment is in Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

Ruth Mary McIlroy

Ruth M. McIlroy

Ruth Mary McIlroy, 82 of Bethlehem Twp., PA died Friday, August 16, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus. Born September 7, 1936 in Williams Twp., PA she was a daughter of the late Mable (Flyte) and George Yob. She and her husband Earle R. McIlroy would have been married 64 years on Tuesday. A 1955 graduate of Easton High School, she was employed by Easton Hospital at their school of nursing and medical records for many years before retiring in 1998. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson and past president of their women’s group. Ruth was also a Past Worthy Matron of William Parsons Chapter #185, Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband Earle; 3 daughters: Deborah Glovas (husband Joseph), Ruthann “Annie” Fretz (husband Joseph) all of Williams Twp., Virginia Altemose (husband Jeff) of Stroudsburg, PA; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A brother Kenneth Yob and sister Helen Fogel died earlier.

Services are 10:30 AM Wednesday (August 21) in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2115 Washington Boulevard, Easton. A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 PM Tuesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with an O.E.S. service at 7:30 PM. Interment is in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Margaret M. Wilson

Margaret M. Wilson, 88, formerly of Palmer Township, died Thursday, August 15, 2019 in Alexandria Manor.

Born May 21, 1931 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late John T. Fell, Sr. and Mary (Rissmiller) Fell. Her husband, Robert W. Wilson died in 2016.

Surviving are three children, Gail Williams, Diane Garis and her husband, Don, and Robert Wilson, Jr.; two sisters, Joann Crouch and Doris Feiser; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her brothers, Russell and Jackie Fell died earlier.

Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. A visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Ray M. Walters

Ray M. Walters, 86, of Palmer Township, died Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Moravian Village surrounded by his family.

Born October 1, 1932 in Easton, he was a son of the late Kenneth R. and Mary (Humphrey) Walters. His wife, Dorothy (Ott) Walters died in 2015.

Ray was a sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for IBM in Philadelphia and Bethlehem for 36 years and retired in 1991. Prior to that he worked for Stahley Electric, Easton. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1950, served in the National Guard, Battalion #213 and was a volunteer for the Easton Children’s Home for many years.

Surviving are his children, Gary Walters and his wife, Dee, Kenneth Walters and his partner, Donna, Karen Hanchett and her husband, Bill and Diane Horvath and her husband, David; 8 grandchildren, Keri, J.R., Matt, Mark, Chris, Heather, Melissa and Katie and 14 great grandchildren. His brothers, James, Edward and Kenneth Walters died earlier.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on August 27, 2019 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:30 am in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Anne E. Reichard

Anne E. Reichard, 99, formerly of Easton, died Thursday, August 15, 2019 in Brandywine Living, Dresher, PA.

Born December 29, 1919 in Sagamore, PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Barbara (Lucas) Erdick. Her husband, Frank A. Reichard died in 1974.

She graduated from Ashley High School in 1939 and worked at the former Laubach’s and Orr’s, Easton.

Surviving are her sister, Mary Dell’Aglio and nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Lois T. Pagliaro

Lois T. Pagliaro, 85, of Downingtown, PA, formerly of Oakland, NJ and Easton, PA passed away August 11, 2019. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, she was a daughter of the late Concettina “Kittie” nee’ Vaiatica and Anthony Bosco. Lois married Albert Pagliaro in 1957 and settled in Oakland where they raised one son. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Oakland and an extremely kind, caring and compassionate woman. Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and a talented musician (pianist). She enjoyed playing and listening to music, sightseeing with her husband and spending time with her three German Shepherds.

She is survived by her son: Philip Pagliaro and his wife Tara Kent; her sister: Lorraine Tinkler (husband Harold); grandchildren: Michael and James Pagliaro; nephews: Kenneth and Robert Tinkler and niece Elizabeth Tinkler Smith. She was predeceased by her husband Albert on July 12, 2010.

A private funeral was held in Easton with internment in Forks Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton was in charge of arrangements. Catherine Contos

Catherine Contos, 96, formerly of Easton PA, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Mosser Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born October 12, 1922 in Kozani, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Stella (Galfas) Tsimberis. She emigrated to the United States in 1935, where she settled in Philadelphia and married Peter Contos in 1948. She was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Philoptochos Society and Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Wilson Borough. Loved by everyone who knew her, Catherine’s greatest joy was cooking and caring for her family.

She is survived by her children: Nick Contos (Anne) of Tallahassee, FL, Estelle Calandra (Paul) of Allentown, PA, Tom Contos (Barbara Walsh) of Lexington, VA, grandchildren: Peter Calandra (Kathi), Nicole Calandra (BK Tuon), Katherine Contos; great-grandchildren: Bryce and Grady Calandra, Stella Tuon; step-sister: Bessie Caripides; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her husband Peter died in 1996. The family thanks her excellent caregivers at Mosser Nursing Home and Country Meadows of Allentown, where she previously resided.

Services are 11 AM Tuesday (Aug. 13) in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 319 S. 20th St., Easton with visitation 10 to 11 AM in the church. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements. Interment is in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Thomas J. Todaro

Thomas J. Todaro, 94, of Palmer Township, died Thursday, August 1, 2019.

Born June 18, 1925 in Easton, he was a son of the late Giovanni and Theresa (Garafolo) Todaro. His wife, Fannie (Pirone) Todaro died in 1988.

He served in the Navy during WWII and owned Tom’s Auto Body and Sales, Easton for over 40 years.

Surviving are his companion, Jeannie Haydu; children, John Todaro and his wife, Patricia of Forks Township and Carol Lear and her husband, Ed of Lower Nazareth Township; sister, Sally Spironello; grandchildren, Brent and his wife, Katie and Tricia and her husband, Chad; and great granddaughter, Emma. His brothers, Joseph and Liborio Todaro and his sister, Josie Cuvo died earlier.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, August 5, 2019 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Monday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
