Joyce H. Brinker Hartz

Joyce H. Brinker Hartz, 91 of Bethlehem, PA died Saturday, October 12, 2019 at ManorCare of Bethlehem. Born May 10, 1928 in Allentown, PA she was a daughter of the late Herman and Isabelle (Hardner) Weil. She was a 1946 graduate of Allentown High School, a graduate of Allentown Business College and had been the Director of the Spring Garden Children’s Center. Joyce was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Easton and active with the choir and Sunday school. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a volunteer for the Allentown Art Museum and State Theatre.

She is survived by her 4 children: Charles Brinker, II (wife Barbara) of Bethlehem, Janis Brinker (spouse Cindy) of Yarmouth Port, MA, Patrice Smith (husband Richard) of Newmanstown, PA, Bret Brinker (wife Cindy) of Bethlehem; her sister: Marlene Edinger in Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands: Dr. Charles Brinker and David Hartz.

Veronica Rose Scannell, 100 of Easton, PA died Sunday, September 29, 2019 at ManorCare, Palmer. Born June 25, 1919 in New York City, NY she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Rose (Ranee) Hannigan. Her husband John J. Scannell died in 1999. Veronica was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Easton, the Catholic Daughters of America, Region 358 and a past president of the Council of Catholic Women at St. Bernard’s. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Easton Hospital and ProJeCt of Easton

She is survived by her children: William A. Scannell (wife Marguerite) of Palmer Twp., PA, John R. Scannell (wife Wendy Kelling) of Sammamish, WA, Bernadette A. Kozlowski of Pinellas Park, FL, Michael D. Scannell (wife Shelley) of Phoenix, AZ; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Friday (Oct. 4) at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 132 S. 5th St., Easton with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment is in Gethsemane Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Roberta J. Evans, 66, of Palmer Township, died Saturday, September 28, 2019. Born in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Viola (Tuskes) Evans and Wayne Evans.

She graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1971 and worked at Mack Printing for 38 year until retiring in 2009.

Surviving are her daughter, Ashley Evans, her son, Shannon Hein and her brother, Alan Evans. Her brother, Jerry Evans died earlier.

Dolores "Snooky" Thomas

Dolores J. “Snooky” Thomas, 85 of Forks Twp., PA died Friday, September 27, 2019 at Alexandria Manor, Bath. Born January 10, 1934 she was a daughter of the late Donald and Vera (Burley) Tinsman. She had been employed by the Express-Times for over 30 years before retiring and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Easton.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Robert F. Thomas; son: Scott Thomas and his wife Joanne of Allen, Texas; daughter: Gayle Groff of Forks Twp.; 3 grandchildren: Brad, Matt and Ashley; and 4 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held 3 PM Thursday (Oct. 3) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with a calling period from 2 to 3 PM.

John W. “Jack” Thierolf

John "Jack" Thierolf

John “Jack” W. Thierolf, 95 of Nazareth, PA died Friday, September 27, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Born May 27, 1924 in Easton, PA he was the son of the late Mae (Nangel) and Claude Thierolf. His wife Lorraine (Fox) Thierolf died in 2013. He was a graduate of Easton High School and Rider College and served in the Army during WWII. Jack had been employed by the Dixie Cup Company in Easton and in Greenwich, CT for more than 40 years before retiring. He was a member of Palmer Moravian Church, Palmer Twp. and was very active with the Moravian Hall Square community.

He is survived by his children: Richard Thierolf (wife Pamela) of Lititz, PA, Joan Menges (husband Mark) of Bethlehem, PA and granddaughter: Jamie Dease (husband Zach).

A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Palmer Moravian Church, 2901 John St., Easton, PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Paul Moench

Paul Andrew Moench, 51 of Bethlehem, PA died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019. Born October 2, 1967 in Brooklyn, NY he was a son of the late Richard and Kathleen Moench. He received his master’s degree with honors from Cornell University and was currently working toward his PhD. He was a research scientist with the Novartis Company and an accomplished musician who played guitar with a local band. Paul was a wonderful husband, a dedicated father, a devoted son and uncle and a friend to any person or animal in need. He is survived by his wife: Bonnie Sue; sons: John and Matthew; and brother: Richard. Burial was in Arndts Cemetery, Easton, PA.

Aida L. Ortiz

Aida Ortiz

Aida L. Ortiz, 76 of Easton, PA went home on September 20, 2019. She was born December 13, 1942 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to the late Victor and Aida (Muniz) Rosario. She worked and managed the dietary department at St. Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken, NJ before retiring. Aida was loved by many and will be dearly missed. She had a loving heart and strongly believed in family unity. She was always welcoming to friends and family and an EXCELLENT cook who made sure everyone who visited left with a full belly. Aida’s favorite past times were family gatherings, going to the casino and playing bingo.

She is survived by children: Victor Rivera, Violet Rivera, Elizabeth Lopez and Jose Lopez; brother: Nelson Rosario; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her daughters: Olga Rivera, Aida Rivera, grandchildren: Billy Bosch, Angel Bosch and recently her sister: Olga Delsalto.

Maureen A. Moroney

Maureen A. Moroney, 69, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, September 19, 2019.

Born June 28, 1950 in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and June A. (Laros) Bellew. She and her husband, Peter J. Russen were married 25 years.

Surviving with her husband, Peter, are three children, Nerin Breton, Alison Russen and Colette Russen; five siblings, Kevin Bellew, Kathleen Tippins, Terese Bellew, Louise Birmingham and Jeanette Duggan; and 3 grandchildren.
