Shirley Bella Terleski

Shirley B. Terleski

Shirley Bella Terleski of Easton, PA died Friday, April 12, 2019 at the age of 90. Born Sept. 4, 1928 in Riegelsville, PA she was a daughter of the late Daisy (Hagley) and Arthur Sheats. Her husband of almost 63 years, George Terleski, died in 2014. She was a 1946 graduate of Wilson High School and continued to participate in reunion breakfasts until 2018. After graduation, she worked as an office secretary at C.K. Williams (Pfizer) and then as a secretary at the former St. Mark’s UCC in Easton. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Easton.

Shirley enjoyed playing cards with her card club of six who met regularly from shortly after her graduation until well into the 1990’s. Her love of cards, games, crossword puzzles and reading brought much pleasure to her in retirement. She also enjoyed traveling and musicals. Shirley was a kind and polite woman, devoted to her husband and family. She laughed easily and enjoyed her small family gatherings.

She is survived by her children: Lynn Terleski-Katz of Sacramento, CA, Robert Terleski of Andreas, PA, Gregory Terleski of Easton, Michael Terleski of Bethlehem; 3 grandchildren: Tyler Terleski, Seth Katz and Annette Terleski; and her extended family of over 70 years: Marilyn Schoenborn, Kay Richter, Peggy and Ron Vellner. Her brothers: William and Richard Sheats died earlier.

A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM Monday (Apr. 15) at Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Rd., Easton. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Fotini Balaskas

Fotini Balaskas, 83, of Palmer Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and husband of nearly 50 years.

Born May 5, 1935 in Kallithea, Olympia, Greece, she was a daughter of the late Dimitrios and Kallirroi (Dimitrouli) Doganis.

Fotini worked in Thessaloniki, Greece before marrying and immigrating to Easton. Married in Glyfada Athens on May 2, 1970 to Nicholas Balaskas of Easton, they enjoyed many years of love and happiness together.

After retiring from A&H Sportswear, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening and her Church. A lifelong and devout member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, she enjoyed attending Mass and helping.

Surviving are her husband, Nicholas Balaskas; niece, Kallirroi Parashos and her husband, Hariton; great nephews, Christos Parashos, Demetrios Parashos and Nicholas Parashos and his wife, Megan; and great grand nephews, Hariton and Kallirroi Parashos. She was predeceased by her brother, Panayotis Doganis and her sisters, Aimilia Spyropoulos and Gianoula Gianopoulos.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 13, 2019 in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 319 S. 20th St., Easton. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time on Saturday in the church. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Kenneth D. Metzgar

Kenneth D. Metzgar, 76 of Bethlehem Twp., PA died Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Born July 11, 1942 in Patterson, NJ he was a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Van Doren) Metzgar. He was a graduate of Wilson High School Class of 1960 and served in the US Air Force for 8 years. Ken had been employed by Air Products for 33 years before retiring in 2002 and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Sharon L. Troxell; two daughters: Sherri Marrapode and her husband Rob of Greenville, SC, Lisa Hulbert and her fiance Phil Ciarrocchi of Coplay, PA; a sister: Patricia Spangenberg of Kunkletown, PA; and 5 grandchildren: Ryan (wife Kayla), Katelyn, Courtney, Nicholas and Drew. A brother Charles died earlier.

Services are private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Lucia M. Weidknecht

Lucia M. Weidknecht, 97, passed away Wednesday March 27, 2019 peacefully at her home in South Berwick, ME.

Born July 12, 1921 in Kingsville, OH she was the daughter of the late William and Lucia (Ackerman) Magill.

She had worked for many years as an electronics assembler for Honeywell.

Lucia loved music, both playing instruments and listening. She enjoyed gardening, her dogs, traveling, and most of all spending time with her family.

Members of her family include her children Marcia Weidknecht of OH; Anita Weidknecht and husband George French of South Berwick, ME; Alan Weidknecht and wife Margie of Pepperell, MA; Robert Weidknecht and wife Pat of Holliston, MA; her grandchildren Teegan, Cory, Daniel, Bryan, and Andrea, and two great grandchildren Ellie and Norah.

She was predeceased by her husband Charles J. Weidknecht in 1990.

Family and friends will gather at the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA at 11:00 am to 11:30 am on Friday April 5, 2019 and will proceed to Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township for a graveside service at Noon.

Dianna Dorrington, 57 of Easton, PA died Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. Born July 7, 1961 in Jersey City, NJ she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Dorothy Puchalski. Her husband Edward Dorrington died in 2014.

She is survived by four sons: James and his wife Virginia, Robert and his wife Michelle, Sean and his wife Felicia, Michael and his wife Stephanie; a sister: Margaret Puchalski and grandson: Alexander all of Easton.

Alice M. Plaut, 84, of Basking Ridge, NJ, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in Gracedale.

Born June 18, 1934 in North Caldwell, NJ, she was a daughter of the late John Kaiser and Beatrice Anna (Wells) Kashuba.

Surviving are a daughter, Debbie Keleher and her husband, Lou, of Forks Township; 2 brothers, Donald and David Kashuba and 5 grandchildren. Her brother, John Kashuba died earlier.

Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 in the Restland Memorial Park Chapel, East Hanover, NJ. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Arthur M. Berg

Arthur M. Berg, 91 of Palmer Twp., PA died Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Easton Hospital. Born July 27, 1927 in New York, NY he was a son of the late William and Sadie (Sanders) Berg. He was a graduate of W. Philadelphia HS and the General Motors Institute of Technology. He served in the Marine Corps during WWII and was the owner/president of the William Berg, Inc. Volvo and GMC Dealership in Easton for more than 35 years before retiring. Art was a member and served on the Board of the Temple Covenant of Peace, Easton. He was a longtime member of the Easton Rotary Club, Treasurer of the former VNA of Easton and Treasurer of the Big Ridge Hunting Club for 42 years. He was also a Boy Scout leader and Past-President of the Northampton County Auto Dealers Association.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years the former Phyllis Rosenblum; son: Ronald Berg and his wife Barbara of Newtown, PA, daughter: Randi Numbers and her husband Scott of Columbia, SC; and 4 grandchildren: Jason and Alison Berg, Leah and Evan Numbers. He was predeceased by his twin brother: Edwin R. Berg and sister: Beverly Kass.

A Graveside Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday (Mar. 27) at Easton Cemetery, N. 7th St., Easton. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

John M. Wollman

John M. “Red” “Johnny Boy” Wollman, 54 of Easton, PA died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg with his wife at his bedside. Born April 13, 1964 in Phillipsburg, NJ he was a son of the late Algia (DePaolis) Famularo and Rich Haring. He attended Phillipsburg High School and had a career in the construction industry working at Strobers Building Supply, Hygrade Roofing, Larkens and Warren Lumber. He was a member of Concordia Maennerchor and an avid Redskins fan. Known as “Johnny Boy” and “Red” by his family and friends, he was a generous and caring man and a devoted nephew. He was quick to offer help and make cheerful conversation with jokes and laughter. As William Wordsworth said, “The best portion of a good man’s life is his little nameless unremembered acts of kindness and of love.” That exemplifies how Johnny lived his life and how he will be remembered.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda (Hall) Wollman; his siblings: Lisa Stokes, Rich Haring, Tammy Famularo; aunts and uncles, including Aunt Pat Patterson; nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved them all.
