Teresa M. Rodriquez

Teresa M. Rodriquez, 67, of Easton, died Saturday, June 8, 2019 in Old Orchard Health Care Center. Born November 13, 1951 in Las Vegas, NV, she was a daughter of the late Raul and Elizabeth (Young) Rodriquez. Her husband, Michael Stieber died earlier.

She is survived by her children, Jason Stieber and Melissa Amator, and her companion, Tom Altemose.

Edith I. Rugis

Edith I. Rugis, 95 of Easton, PA died Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at ManorCare, Easton, PA. Born November 23, 1923 in Easton she was a daughter of the late Rafaella (Mazza) and Joseph Tomaino. She was a graduate of Easton High School and Churchman’s Business College. She was the first woman Real Estate Broker in Northampton County; she was a licensed Broker in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She held many board positions for the Easton Board of Realtors and proudly was part of its founding. She also had a successful appraising business and held an insurance license for both states. Edith was an avid golfer winning often and inscribed twice on the ‘Wall’ at Harker’s Hollow. In later years Edie loved playing bridge with all her friends in Wilson, and P’burg and at ManorCare.

She is survived by her son: Stan Rugis of Easton, a grandson: Jake Rugis of Bethlehem, and sister Mary Bray of Allentown along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Janice; brothers: Chet, Pete, Tony and Gino Tomaino and sister: Helen Worman; and nephew Chester Eugene Worman Jr. who died in Vietnam, and Barbara Tomaino.

Services are 10:30 AM Tuesday (June 11) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, with visitation 5:30 to 7 PM Monday and 10 to 10:30 AM Tuesday. Judith D. Miller

Judith D. Miller, 90 of Easton, PA died Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Country Meadows, Bethlehem Twp., PA. Born October 12, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA she was the daughter of the late Helen (Kuhns) and Seymour Dunn. She was a graduate of Hood College and received her master’s degree from Lehigh University in 1976. She was a special education teacher with Intermediate Unit #20 for many years before retiring in 1995. Judy was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, where she served on Council and was a Eucharistic Lay Leader. She had also been a member of Bible Study Fellowship International, the Women’s Board of Easton Hospital, ProJeCt of Easton Food Bank volunteer and Miller Memorial Blood Center donor aide.

She is survived by 4 children: Kim Lacey of Medford, NJ, Julianne Breiner (husband Ed) of West Chester, PA, Andrew Miller (wife Donna) of Baltimore, MD, Thomas Miller (husband Scott Edmiston) of Waltham, MA; 7 grandchildren: Shane Lacey (wife Rebecca), Cole Lacey (wife Karah), Andrew Breiner (wife Kelly), Tyler Breiner (wife Kaitlyn), Martha Rudi (husband Andrew), Abigail Miller, Hanna Cohen (husband Andrew); and 3 great-grandchildren: Abigail Breiner, Jack and Mollie Lacey.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held June 29th at Noon in St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 3900 Freemansburg Ave., Easton, PA with a calling period 11 AM to noon in the church. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Maryellen Howell

Maryellen Howell, 56 of Palmer Twp., PA died Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Gracedale after being diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in 2007. Born December 5, 1962 in Wilson Borough, PA she was a daughter of Harriet (Baker) Borger of Lehighton, PA and the late Robert Cosper. She was a 1980 graduate of Easton High School where she was a member of the Marching Band. She received her bachelor’s degree from Cedar Crest College in 1984 and was Board Certified in Nuclear Medicine Technology. She had been employed by Lehigh Valley Hospital from 1984 to 2006.

She is survived by her mother, Harriet; her husband of 30 years, Robert J. Howell; her daughters: Amanda Howell of Port Orange, FL, Ashley McBride (husband Orlando) of Scottsdale, AZ; and her sister: Jill Kocatulum of Horseheads, NY.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Saturday (June 8) with a calling period from 1 to 2 PM in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.

Lawrence H. Oakes

Lawrence H. Oakes, 96, of Easton, PA, died Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Gracedale. Born August 7, 1922 in Quakertown, NJ, he was a son of the late Belle (Woolf) and Jesse Oakes. He was a factory worker for most of his life and served in the Army.

He is survived by his sisters, Phyllis Becker and Marion Palko, both in New Jersey and nieces and nephews. His wife, Catherine (East) Oakes died in 1989.

Esther Morgenstern Brown

Esther M. Brown

Esther (Morgenstern) Brown, 99 of Phillipsburg, NJ died Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Brakeley Gardens Nursing Center. Born May 5, 1920 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Clara (Lambert) and Harvey Morgenstern. She was a 1938 graduate of Wilson High School where she was in Glee Club, musicals and plays. A lifetime member of First Moravian Church, Easton, she served as an Elder, Women’s Fellowship member and in their choir for 75 years. Esther was also a member of the Musical Arts Chorus, a nurse’s aide at Warren Hospital for many years, and a teacher’s aide in the Philipsburg School District before retiring in 1990.

She is survived by 4 children: Linda Paff of Phillipsburg, NJ, George Brown of Holiday, FL, Susan Dilts of Easton, Nancy Sliker of Columbia, NJ; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Clayton Brown in 1974; a great-grandson; and 6 siblings.

Eileen M. Lenhart

Eileen M. Lenhart, 72, of Breinigsville, formerly of Allentown, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in her home. Born July 30, 1946 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth W. and Lucy Mae (Bittenbender) Shook.

Eileen worked for the Social Security Administration for many years. Prior to that she served as an assistant to a General at the Pentagon. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Allentown. She sang in the church choir and was a gifted artist.

Surviving are her daughters, Iva Mae Frantz and her husband, Richard K. of Broomall, PA and Kristy Anne Lenhart with whom she resided; a sister, Jean Louise Shook of Horsham, PA and 6 grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 1, 2019 in First Presbyterian Church, 3231 W. Tilghman St., Allentown. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday in the church. Interment will be in Centreville Cemetery, Mt. Bethel. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Anna H. Wolper, 101 of Nazareth, PA formerly of Easton, PA died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Moravian Hall Square. Born October 12, 1917 in Easton she was a daughter of the late Bessie A. (Gano) and Burt Ricker. Her husband Paul K. Wolper died in 1993. A 1935 graduate of Easton High School, she was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nazareth and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson where she sang in the choir. She had been employed by C.K. Williams Co. and Lafayette College.

She is survived by her children: David P. Wolper and his wife Carol of Cincinnati, OH, Judith Ann Sopko of Bethlehem, PA; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Paul and sister Jean Brasmer.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Monday (June 3) in Kortz Hall at Moravian Hall Square, 175 W. North St., Nazareth. Interment will be private in Greenwood Cemetery, Allentown. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.
