Russell W. McIntyre

Russell W. McIntyre, 86, of Palmer Township, died Sunday, December 23, 2018 in Abington Manor.

Born January 30, 1932 in Easton, he was a son of the late Charles S. and Lillian (Kuhns) McIntyre.  His wife, Joan A. (Mulford) McIntyre died in 2012.

Russell served in the US Navy aboard the USS Saipan CVL-48 during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954.  He worked at Cooper Industries/Penn Pump for 8 years and retired in 1992.  Prior to that he worked for Harris Corporation/Sheridan Machine for 30 years and Bethlehem Steel.
He was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and the Palmer Township Recreation Board.  He graduated from Wilson High School in 1950 and was an active member of the Varsity E and the Varsity W Clubs.  Russell coached youth sports for many years in Palmer Township and he supported his many nephews and nieces in their sporting and academic endeavors.

Surviving are his children, Russell “Rusty” McIntyre, Jr. and his wife, Sherri, of Palmer Township; Ron McIntyre and his wife, Amy, of Pen Argyl and Cynthia McIntyre of Palmer Township; a brother, Clyde McIntyre; 2 sisters, Dolores “Dolly” Creager and Shirley Curto; 4 grandchildren, Brittany “Rowan” McIntyre, Jennie McQueen, Jordan McIntyre and Kellee McIntyre; and 5 great grandchildren, Connor McQueen, Sarah McIntyre, James McQueen, Rowan McQueen and Luke McQueen.  His brothers, Charles “Bud” McIntyre, Howard McIntyre, Richard “Lindy” McIntyre and James McIntyre and his sisters, Eleanor Snyder, Frances “Sis” Hofford, Kathleen Lazarus and Carol McIntyre died earlier.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 29, 2018 in St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 3900 Freemansburg Ave., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Shirley A. Klemka

Shirley A. Klemka

Shirley A. Klemka, 83 of Forks Twp., PA died Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at Atria Senior Living in Bethlehem. Born Sept. 10, 1935 in Flicksville, PA she was a daughter of the late Mary Alice (Pensyl) and Oliver Jennings. A 1953 graduate of Bangor High School, she had been employed by Laneco and Binney & Smith.  Shirley was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Forks Twp., the Keen Agers and the Tatamy Social Club. She was kind and giving to many, a lady full of grace & forgiveness.

She is survived by her son: David Stem (Louise); grandson: Jason Stem; step-children: Alan Klemka (Joan), Kathleen Yarnell (Robert); brother: Robert Jennings (Linda); nieces, nephews; and great-niece and primary caregiver since Ed’s passing: Betty Ann Schaefer. Husbands Floyd Stem and Edward Klemka, son Charles Stem, grandchildren Anna Marie Stem and Michael David all died earlier.

Services are 11 AM Saturday (Dec. 29) in Faith Lutheran Church, 2012 Sullivan Trail, Easton with visitation 10 to 11 AM. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements. Interment is in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Lester V. Lohrman

Lester Vernon Lohrman, 88 of Palmer Twp., PA died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Easton Hospital. Born August 12, 1930 in Kearny, NJ he was the son of the late Leona (Welch) and LeRoy O. Lohrman. He graduated from Easton High School in 1948, the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1952 and was a Korean War Army veteran. He worked with his father at Lohrman’s Drug Store in Wilson from 1954 until assuming ownership in 1960. He operated Lohrman’s until 1980. Lester then worked for Koehler’s Pharmacy in Nazareth and was the Chief Pharmacist at Gracedale from 1982 until retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. John’s Church on Morgan Hill, Easton Lodge #152, F & AM, Lehigh Consistory and the American Radio Relay League

He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years the former Helen (Willever) and adored by his family, son: Greg D. (wife Kim) of Williams Twp., PA; grandsons: Lucas (wife Nicole) of Bushkill Twp., PA, Heath (wife Aparna) of London, Nicholas (wife Kayla) of Hellertown, PA; and 3 great-grandchildren: Madison, Brynn and Ethan. He was predeceased by his daughter Karen Ann Lohrman in 2014 and his sister Lois A. Hortmanns.

Visitation will be held 5 to 6:30 PM Sunday (Dec. 23) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be private in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Ivan S. Bowyer

Ivan S. Bowyer

Ivan S. Bowyer, 86 formerly of Easton, PA died December 20, 2018 at Gracedale. He was a 1951 graduate of Easton High School and member of the Blue Church in Williams Twp. He had been employed by the Bethlehem Corporation in Easton for many years before retiring. Ivan loved playing the harmonica and enjoyed his weekly gatherings at Williams Restaurant with his harmonica group. He was also an avid woodworker and served in the army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife: Joyce (Savitz) Bowyer; his children: Sharon Achey (husband Wayne) of Bethlehem, PA, Kevin Bowyer (wife Victoria) of Beaufort, SC, Stephanie (husband Francisco) Buenrostro of Indiana, Timothy Bowyer of Nazareth, PA; brother: Evan Martin; sister: Patricia Mehrkam; 6 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Louise L. Brossman

Louise Lindsey Brossman, 96, formerly of Palmer Township, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.

Born November 2, 1922 in Sigel, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Joel C. and Mary R. (Weirick) Lindsey.  Her husband, Richard M. “Dick” Brossman died last year.

Louise worked for Northampton Community College for over 12 years and retired in 1987.
She was a member of Green Pond United Methodist Church, a graduate of Churchman Business School and was active at the YWCA, Easton.

Surviving are three children, Beverly Brossman Shay of Lutz, Fla.; Robert D. Brossman and his wife, Judy, of Bethlehem; and Lindsey, wife of Scott Finken, of Merrimack, N.H.; and eight grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by nine siblings.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 28, 2018 in Green Pond United Methodist Church, 4411 Green Pond Rd., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:00 pm on Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Sheila Emmi

Sheila Emmi, 83, of Forks Township, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Easton Hospital.  Born April 13, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Gedaliah and Sophie (Goodstein) Rosenbaum.  Her husband, Joseph Emmi died in February.

Surviving are her sons, Gerald Schefflin, Steven Schefflin, Paul Scheffflin, Howard Schefflin and Philip Schefflin; a sister, Bernice Wolosh; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  Her daughter, Edith D’Amato died in 2007.

Services will be private.  Interment in Roseto Presbyterian Cemetery.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Anna S. Gerheart

Anna S. Gerheart, 88 of Palmerton, PA died Monday, December 17, 2018 at Gracedale. Born April 4, 1930 in Palmerton she was a daughter of the late Pauline (Liska) and Petro Polakovics . She was a graduate of Palmerton High School and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palmerton. Anna enjoyed traveling with her family especially camping trips with her sons.

She is survived by her sons: Robert Gerheart of Easton, PA, Timothy Gerheart with whom she resided and a brother John Polakovics. Her husband William P. Gerheart predeceased her.

Mary E. “Dolly” Mazzie

Mary E. "Dolly" Mazzie

Mary Elizabeth “Dolly” Mazzie, 82 of Easton, PA died Sunday, December 16, 2018 after being stricken at home. Born February 13, 1936 in Stockertown, PA she was a daughter of the late Sadie (Brotzman) and Nicholas Mazzie, Sr. A 1954 graduate of Easton High School, she had been a machinist at Fredwill Co. and Warren Controls for many years and was currently a greeter at Sam’s Club. She was a life member of West Easton Firehouse and had been a pitcher for Fredwill’s softball team and several women’s softball leagues.

Dolly also coached softball at Holy Name in Philipsburg. and loved sports, country western music and was an avid Easton Football and Wrestling fan.

She is survived by: Rita Williams, with whom she resided for 50 years; sisters: Faye Merlo (husband Dominick, Jr.), Carol Brandle (husband Carl), brother: David Mazzie (wife Wanda) all of Easton and many nieces and nephews. A brother: Nick Mazzie and sister: Mae Snyder died earlier.

Services are 11 AM Thursday (Dec. 20) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation 10 to 11 AM. Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
