Joseph J. Grainda, Jr.

Joseph J. Grainda, Jr. 67 of Forks Twp., PA died Friday, October 5, 2018 at Easton Hospital after being stricken at home. Born November 9, 1950 in Phillipsburg, NJ he was a son of the late Margaret (Serfozo) and Joseph Grainda, Sr. He was a 1968 graduate of Phillipsburg Catholic High School and a Warren County Vo-Tech graduate. Joe was an LPN at the Hunterdon Developmental Center retiring as an in-service teacher in 2006 after more than 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years Margaret McGaughey; brothers: Richard (wife Polly) of Allentown, Stephen of Elmira, NY, Andrew (wife Delores) of Palmer Twp.; sisters: Rosemary Browne (husband David) of Wind Gap, Lisa Stanislawczyk (husband Stephen) of Phillipsburg; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Matthew.

A Graveside Service will be held 1:30 PM Friday (Oct. 12) at the Northampton Memorial Shrine, Green Pond Rd., Easton. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Lydia E. Hulsebosch

Lydia E. Hulsebosch, 88, of Palmer Township, formerly of Greenwich, Conn., died peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018.

Born April 21, 1930 in Frankfurt, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Anna (Berger) Ockert and the wife of the late Gerard F. Hulsebosch.

Surviving are her son, Randy Maynard and his wife, Karen O’Brien-Maynard, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 13, 2018 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday in the funeral home.

Lor’ee (Glenda L. Dudzick) 70, of Easton, PA passed Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 at Easton Hospital. She was born Dec. 26, 1947 to the late Mary McNeill and Glenn Shaw in Annawan, IL and adopted by the late Mark Farrell of Easton. Employed at Martin Guitar, Pennsylvania Locksmith Co. and Mary Meuser Memorial Library, Lor’ee was a passionate learner, military supporter and animal rescuer.

She was preceded in death by her beloved children Michael Glenn Dudzick and Jacqueline Loree Dudzick Derk; and former husband John Joseph (Jack) Dudzick. She was the proud grandmother of Cameron Joseph Derk and Ashley Nicole Derk; sister of Gwen Shaw, Paula Shaw, Maryann Farrell and AnnMarie Weirsky; and cherished aunt to Kyle (Nikki) Weirsky, Chris Ashley, Jennifer, Danielle, Sean, Mia Springfield, and great niece and nephews Memphis, Wyatt, Lane Weirsky and dear friend Glenn Springfield.

David A. Reifsnyder

Devid A. Reifsnyder

David A. Reifsnyder, 68 of Easton, PA died Saturday, September 29, 2018 at home. Born February 2, 1950 in Easton he was a son of the late Jean (Ackerman) and John G. Reifsnyder. He was a 1968 graduate of Easton High School where he was a Varsity Athlete in Football and Track. He received a bachelor of science degree in biology from Lafayette College in 1972, and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He had a long and distinguished career as a microbiologist, and was the owner and president of Microbiological Environments. He was an avid fly fisherman who authored a book on that subject, which included colorful vignettes of his family and friends. David cherished his family and his many friends. He had a tremendous zest for life that was contagious. He enjoyed gardening, music, and dancing.  He will truly be missed and remembered fondly by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years: Laura (Hendry) Reifsnyder; 2 daughters: Lauren Joujan (husband Alex) and Jessica Serry (husband Tamer) all of Easton; a brother: John T. Reifsnyder of Gilmanton, NH; a sister: Judith Reifsnyder of Rochester, NY; and 3 grandchildren: Chloe, Dawson and Teagan. He was predeceased by a sister Suzanne Stitt.

A memorial service to celebrate his wonderful life will be held Friday, October 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the family residence. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Ruth M. Schlough

Ruth M. Schlough

Ruth Morgenstern Schlough, a beloved child of God, died peacefully at the age of 104 at Bridges-Cornell Heights, Ithaca, NY on Sept. 27, 2018. She was the wife of Ralph Richard Schlough to whom she was married for 45 years.  Born April 12, 1914 in Easton, PA, she was the oldest child of Harvey and Clara (Lambert) Morgenstern. Ruth was a graduate of the Allentown School of Nursing and practiced nursing in the Easton area until her marriage in 1938. Ruth and Ralph were active members of the Moravian Church congregations in Easton and Nazareth, PA until their move to Ithaca where they joined the Presbyterian Church. Ruth was a life-long advocate of “back to the land” agrarian living and kept a prolific garden well into her nineties.  She was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and sang in church choirs into her eighties.

She is survived by her children: Eleanor Lassiter (husband Richard) of Prescott, AZ, Charles A. Schlough of Trumansburg, NY, James R. Schlough (wife Lynne) of Seattle, WA; her sister: Esther Brown; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband: Ralph; a sister: Hannah Hess; brothers: Mike, John and Frederick Morgenstern; and grandson: Michael Richardson.

Her life will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday (Oct. 5) at First Moravian Church, 225 N. 10th St., Easton, PA with visitation 10 to 10:30 AM in the church. Interment is in Easton Cemetery. Morris Guggenheim

Morris Guggenheim, 85 of Doylestown, PA died Monday, September 24, 2018 at home. Born September 28, 1932 in New York, NY he was a son of the late Caroline (Braunfelder) and Jerome Guggenheim. He was a graduate of Moravian College and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Temple Judea and was a facilities manager for many businesses including the IRS.

He is survived by his wife Sonya (Wolpert); daughters: Joy Goldberg, Browns Mills, NJ, Jerilyn Heiland, Doylestown and 3 grandchildren: Marcie, Joshua and Jessica.

Carolyn J. Fritchman

Carolyn J. Fritchman, 67 of Bethlehem, PA formerly of Emmaus, PA died Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital Anderson.  Born February 18, 1951 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Virginia (Keiper) and Robert Kocher. She was a 1969 graduate of Wilson High School where she was a member of the band. She received an associate degree from Northampton Community College and was a member of the former Memorial UCC. She was employed at various locations in the Lehigh Valley in retail and accounts payables but her true passion was nurturing and spending time with her grandchildren. Carolyn was a selfless, wonderful mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children: Scott Fritchman (wife Allison) of Coopersburg, PA, Jennifer Kukel (husband Jeff) of Berlin, MD; brother: Robert Kocher of Palmer Twp., PA; sister: Deborah Golden of Bethlehem Twp., PA; and 4 grandchildren: Colin, Emmit, Ella, and Reef.

A Memorial Service will be held 5 PM Saturday (Sept. 29) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton., with a calling period from 4 to 5 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmaus Public Library, 11 East Main St., Emmaus, PA 1804

Dr. Alan H. Kunkle, Jr.

Dr. Alan H. Kunkel, Jr., 65 of Palmer Twp., PA died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at home. Born October 2, 1952 in Easton he was a son of the late Lorraine (Kramer) and Alan Kunkel, Sr. He and his wife Diane (Snyder) Kunkel just celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. He graduated from Easton High School in 1970 and from the Palmer School of Chiropractic in 1975. Dr. Kunkel owned and operated the Wind Gap Chiropractic Center since 1976 and was a member of the Slate Belt Church in Pen Argyl.

He is survived by his wife Diane; his daughter Heather Tita and her husband Louis of Stroudsburg, PA; a sister Lori Kunkel of Ocean City, MD; and 3 grandchildren: Lorenzo, Angelina and Bianca.

Services are 10:30 AM Monday (Sept. 24) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, with visitation 5 to 7 PM Sunday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
