Prudencia “Violet” Meuser

Prudencia “Violet” Meuser, 70, of Palmer Township, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in Old Orchard Health Care Center.

Born March 31, 1947 in The Philippines, she was a daughter of the late Bayani and Prudencia (Felipe) Yraola.  Her husband, Donald A. Meuser died in 1996.

Prudencia was a nurse at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital, Allentown and Easton Hospital.  She was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church and the BLD Praise and Worship Group.

She is survived by two brothers and two sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, September 18, 2017 in St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Sunday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Stephen Paul Lariar

Stephen Paul Lariar, 73, of Hanover Township, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Born February 27, 1944 in Oceanside, NY, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Susan (Meyer) Lariar.  He and his wife, Diane (Gitman) Lariar were married 25 years.

Stephen was a businessman, passionate about his work in the garment industry.  He was a volunteer at Minsi Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America.  He loved music, politics, gardening, nature, cooking, and eating well.  He enjoyed geology and collecting music boxes.  Steve had a wonderful sense of humor and knew how to make everyone smile.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane; daughter, Zoe Obara and her husband, Steven, of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons, Randy Lariar and his wife, Tory, of NYC, and Sidney Lariar and his girlfriend, Kaysey Davis, of East Norriton, PA; sister, Linda Webb Varian; two grandchildren, Chloe Obara and Clay Obara; niece, Sara Jane Haggerty; and his exchange student “Fractional Son”, Diego Curvo.

A Celebration of Stephen’s Life will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Advent Moravian Church, 3730 Jacksonville Rd., Bethlehem, PA.  A Time to Remember Service will begin at 1:30 pm.

Shirley R. Jones

Shirley R. Jones, 88 of Easton, PA and Hilton Head, SC died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at her home. Born April 25, 1929 in Bluefield, West Virginia she was a daughter of the late Blanche (Peery) and Richard Ward. She had been a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson where she was a Sunday School teacher and served on the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Easton Hospital Women’s Board.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Richard E. Jones; son: Robert S. Jones and his wife Katie of Hilton Head; daughter: Terri A. Souders and her husband Robert of Palmer Twp., PA; sister: Hazel Kadimik of Sea Girt, NJ; 4 grandchildren: Stacy Wlodarcik, Stephanie Check, Chris Jones and Andy Jones and 3 great-grandchildren.

Services are 11 AM Tuesday (Sept. 5) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, with visitation 10 to 11 AM. Interment is in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Marvin W. Frankenfield, Jr.

Marvin W. Frankenfield, Jr., 88, of Easton, died Monday, August 28, 2017 in Easton Hospital.

Born April 26, 1929 in Wilson Borough, he was a son of the late Marvin W. and Beulah (Kelchner) Frankenfield.  His wife, Janet E. (McCann) Frankenfield, died in

January.

Marvin was Superintendent of Sewers for the City of Easton for 30 years and retired in 1986.  He was also a master plumber for Easton Plumbing and Supply and he served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Third Lutheran Church, Palmer Township, The Congregational United Church of Christ, Punta Gorda, Florida and the former St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Easton.  He was a member of the Order of Elks, a life member of the West Easton A. A., past president of the Eastern Pennsylvania Water Pollution Control Operators Association, past president of the Pennsylvania Club of Port Charlotte and was an avid bowler.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Allegrezza and her husband, Fred of Line Lexington, PA and Charlotte Arter and her husband, James of Hamilton, VA; a son, Charles Frankenfield of Philadelphia; a son-in-law, James Foanio of Largo, FL; three brothers, Harold Frankenfield of Wilson Borough, Sherwood Frankenfield of Forks Township and Martin Frankenfield of Forks Township; two sisters, Frances Thomas of Palmer Township and Betty Short in South Carolina and six grandchildren, Michael, Connie, Lauren, Josh, Sam and Rachel.  His daughter, Susan Foanio and his sister, Bessie Daws died earlier.

Services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, September 1, 2017 in St. Paul’s Third Lutheran Church, 2561 Newburg Rd., Palmer Township.  Interment with military honors will follow in Easton Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton and from 12:00 pm until service time Friday in the church.

Elaine DeMarco

Elaine DeMarco, 76 of Easton, PA died Sunday, August  27, 2017 at Gardens of Easton.  Born October 21, 1940 in New York she was a daughter of the late Edward and Vincenza (Caruso) Velardi. She had been a file clerk in New York for many years before moving to Easton.

She is survived by a daughter Ann Marie and was predeceased by her brother Edward.

Barbara Laubach Lehr

Barbara L. Lehr, 88 of Easton, PA died Thursday, August 24, 2017 at home. Born January 11, 1929 in Easton she was the daughter of the late Josephine (Rodenbough) and Donald G. Laubach, Sr. She graduated from Shipley School, Bryn Mawr in 1946 and Centenary College for Women in 1949.

Barbara was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Easton where she taught Sunday School.  She was a 25 year member of the Board of Managers of The Easton Home and served as their Corresponding Secretary. She was a member of the Easton Hospital Auxiliary, the Pomfret Club, Skytop Club and served on the Boards of: Children’s Home of Easton, Planned Parenthood and the Easton Parking Authority. She also volunteered as a teacher at the Spring Garden Nursery School when it began in the 1950’s. Barb loved people, especially young people and later in life she loved writing short stories for her granddaughters. She loved listening to and helping people, cooking, gardening and writing.

She is survived by a son: John H. “Rusty” Lehr, Jr. and his partner Barbara Montague of Tampa, FL; daughter-in law: Sharon Lehr of Pittsburgh, PA; brother: Donald G. “Mike” Laubach, Jr. of Forks Twp., PA; and 2 granddaughters: Kate and Emma. She was predeceased by her husband: John H. “Jack” Lehr, Sr. in 1976 and son: Donald L. Lehr in 2008.

A Graveside Service will be held 11 AM Thursday (Aug. 31) at Easton Cemetery, 401 North 7th, Easton; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

George Barr, Jr.

August 21, 2017

George Barr, Jr., 86 of New Tripoli, PA died Monday, August 21, 2017 at ManorCare, Old Orchard. Born May 6, 1931 in Easton, PA he was a son of the late Eva (White) and George Barr, Sr.  He served in the Air Force during the Korean War as an airplane mechanic and was employed by Whippany Paper for 22 years and Jersey Zinc prior to that.

He is survived by his daughter: Karen Leiser of Easton; granddaughter: Codi Welch in Texas and 2 great-grandchildren: Caydn and Camille. He was predeceased by a grandson: Dustin Leiser and longtime companion: Nancy Mink.

Charleen S. Kline

Charleen S. Kline, 77 of East Bangor, PA died Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at home. Born July 19, 1940 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Anne (Dibilio) and Henry Kline, Sr. She was a 1948 graduate of Wilson High School and employed by Easton Hospital for many years before retiring.

She is survived by a brother: Bart Kline of Springtown, PA and sisters:  Gerry Strouse of Palmer Twp., PA and Phyllis Kline in Texas. A brother Henry Kline, Jr. died earlier.
