Richard “Spider” Parr

Richard "Spider" Parr

Richard “Spider” Parr, 81 formerly of Easton, PA left this world February 11, 2018 in Florida looking forward to love and peace with the Lord Jesus Christ. Born June 15, 1936 in Binghamton, NY, the youngest of five children to Leon and Martha Haring Parr, he was raised in Easton with his most enjoyable days attending Wolf Junior High School and Easton High School, Class of 1954 with the very best classmates one could have. Among those being his two loyal friends Frank Lavalva and Dave Frawley. He served five years in the Navy during the Korean War, four years aboard the Destroyer USS John Hood and one year a the Naval Air Development Center in Johnsville, PA.

After 30 years with the US Postal Service he retired and traveled to Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Arizona and California playing baseball for various teams including one in the Senior Olympics. His ten years with cancer played the decision to stop playing ball.

He is survived by the mother of his children, his first wife: Patricia Fisher; his daughter: Dorothy Nolasco (husband Jim); his son: Ricky Parr (wife Josie); and his sisters: Gladys Reed and Marge “Squirt” Weidner with whom he shared all the memories. He was predeceased by his second wife: Elizabeth Brooks Parr, brother: Donald Parr, USN and sister: Dorothy Bruno, Esq.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held 1:30 PM Friday (June 15) at Easton Cemetery, N. 7th Street, Easton, PA.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Spider was a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and would appreciate a donation to the same to save those children. Give flowers to those you love while thay are still with you.

Debra Ann Allen

Debra Ann Allen, 61 of Bushkill Twp., PA died Friday, February 9, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus. Born April 27, 1956 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Florence (Dewalt) Starner. A 1974 graduate of Easton High School, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University and was an elementary school teacher for the Easton Area School District for 15 years. Prior to that she was a teller at Nazareth National Bank. She was a member of Forks United Church of Christ, Stockertown who loved her dog “Mama”, her cats and riding horses.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years: Richard E. Allen, Jr.; her sons: Jacob E. Allen at home, Jordan R. Allen of Kutztown; a brother: Terry Starner of Easton; sisters: Louise Hoy of Holly Hill, FL, Gail Tashner and her husband Steve of Bushkill Twp.; 8 nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. A sister Doris Curto died earlier.

Services are 11 AM Friday, Feb. 16 in Forks United Church of Christ, 4500 Sullivan Trail, Stockertown with visitation 6 to 8 PM Thursday in the church and an hour prior to service on Friday. Interment is in Forks Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Robert Gavin Charlebois

Robert Gavin Charlebois, 57, of Milford Square, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in St. Luke’s Hospital.

Born March 1, 1960 in Quebec, Canada, he was a son of Anna (Ryan) Charlebois and the late William A. Charlebois.

Surviving are his wife, Rena (Starks) Charlebois and his siblings, Linda Charlebois, Thomas Charlebois, Ellen Charlebois, Eileen Underwood and Patrice Charlebois.

Ronald K. Ostrander, Sr.

Ronald K. Ostrander, Sr., 79 of Steubenville, OH, formerly of Easton, PA died Friday, February 2, 2018 in Ohio. Born February 12, 1938 in Easton he was a son of the late Jerome and Ella May (Miller) Ostrander.  He had been employed by the Easton Area School District at Shawnee for many years and was a member of the Lester Pfeffer American Legion.

He is survived by: a daughter: Zoeann Bartholomew of Bath, PA; sons: Keith, Kurt, Ronald, Jr. and Kevin all of Easton; caregivers: Russell and Carol Taormina of Amsterdam, OH; a brother: Jerome; sisters: Ellen and Marie; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. His companion: Barbara Werkheiser died earlier.

Services are 10:30 AM Friday (Feb. 9) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Doris M. Lambert, 81 of Snydersville, PA died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown. Born April 8, 1936 in Northampton, PA she was a daughter of the late Hiram and Marie (Dixon) Weaver. A graduate of Sunbury High School, she had been employed by the former Easton National Bank & Trust and as an Administrative Assistant for the Monroe County Correctional Facility for many years before retiring.

She is survived by her husband: Robert Lambert; children: Jill Musselman and her husband Douglas of Allentown, PA, Scott Grandi and his wife Perian of Northampton, PA; step-children: Billy Lambert and his wife Kelli of Bethlehem, PA, Wes Lambert and his wife Mandi of Milford, PA, Kim Badillo and her husband Frank of Easton, PA, David Lambert and his wife Aleta of Pittston, NJ; a brother: Lloyd Weaver and his wife Loretta of Myerstown, PA; grandchildren: Tyler Musselman, Josh Pireda and his wife Fernanda, Zechariah, Anthony, Hanna, Jordan, Lexi, Jennifer and Amanda Lambert, Katie and Ilana Badillo and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister: Margaret and brother: Wilmer.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday (Feb. 10) at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 183 S. Broad St., Nazareth, PA with a calling period from 10 to 11 AM in the church. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Timotea Neris Santiago

Timotea T. Neris Santiago, 78 of Easton, PA died Monday, January 29, 2018. Born March 24, 1939 in  San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of Eladia Santiago and Juan Neris.

She is survived by her children: Mildred Vasquez, Axel, Michael, Luis and Maricel Santiago; her husband; grandchildren,  great-grandchildren and siblings including Carmen Reyes and Irma Moyet.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Friday (Feb. 2) in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 132 S. 5th St., Easton with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 in the church. Interment is in Easton Heights Cemetery.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Ruth Lore Menkel

Ruth Lore Menkel, 90, of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Easton, died Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Hospice by the Sea, Boca Raton.

Born September 1, 1927 in Cologne, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Max and Bertha (Linz) Grunewald.  Her husband, Ernest Menkel, died in 2007.

Ruth owned Sir Speedy Printing, Easton for 26 years.  She was a member of Temple Covenant of Peace, Easton, where she served as secretary of the Board and the Sisterhood.  She was a past president of Planned Parenthood, Easton; a member of the Jewish Community Center; a member of the Fairview Elementary School, Wilson Borough, PTA and a volunteer for the Red Cross, March of Dimes, United Way and Easton Hospital.  During WWII, she served on the Human Relations Committee of the WVS.

She is survived by her daughter, Lindy G. Menkel of Boca Raton and her nieces and nephews, Eileen Eckhaus, Marion Mintzer, Leslie Koelsch, Ellen Levine, Jeff Grunewald and Rob Grunewald.  Her brother, Fred Grunewald died in 2015.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Temple Covenant of Peace, Easton.  Interment will be in Easton Cemetery.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Ruth S. Larison

Ruth S. Larison

Ruth S. Larison, 80 of Bethlehem Twp., PA died Thursday, January 25, 2018 in Keystone Hospice House, Wyndmoor, PA. Born August 24, 1937 in Jamaica, Queens, NY she was a daughter of the late Edward and Lydia (Reschke) Stielau.

Ruth graduated from Mandl School in New York City and worked as a medical doctors office assistant before becoming an executive secretary. She was employed by Ortho Clinical Diagnostics and by AT&T for many years. Following her retirement she worked for Millbrook Home Care as a companion. Ruth was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Easton where she sang in the choir, was a past-president and current vice-president of SAW, and a Eucharistic Lay Minister. She also served as Judge of Elections in Northampton County for over 12 years.

Ruth’s ready smile, joyful laughter and generous nature brightened the day of all who met her. She was devoted to her God, her family, friends and causes and will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her children: Brenda Ruth Lange of Philadelphia, Michael Lange and his wife Maria of Sharon Springs, NY; sisters: Carolyn Stielau and Edna Kline; grandchildren: Jennifer Winters (and her husband John and their children: Jillian and Johnny), Vincent Franchino (and his wife Elise), Elizabeth Kinder (and her fiancé Sean Riley), Erich Lange, Emily Lange and loving nieces and nephews. Her husband Douglas Larison died in 2007.

A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 AM  Wednesday (Jan. 31) in St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 3900 Freemansburg Ave., Easton, PA, immediately followed by a service in the church. Interment will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.
