Barbara Weitzman

Barbara Weitzman

Barbara Weitzman, 92 formerly of Easton, PA and Lake Worth, FL passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018. Born July 11, 1926 in Greensburg, PA she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Bessie (Sherer) Rosenbaum and sister of the late Robert Rosenbaum. She was married to her beloved husband of 50 years Leonard Weitzman who died in 2001. Barbara was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and was a medical technologist in her early years. She was a long-time member of Temple Covenant of Peace, Easton and its Sisterhood, a member of Hadassah, and the Jewish Community Center, Easton. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Barbara enjoyed the arts, theatre, lectures, traveling, flower arranging, Mah Jongg, dancing, singing and cherished time spent with family and friends.

She is survived by daughters: Phyllis Weitzman Rosen (husband Warren) of Philadelphia, PA,  Esther Weitzman Wenck (husband Jeffrey) of Allentown, PA; son: Bruce Weitzman (wife Stephanie) of Glenside, PA; four cherished grandchildren: Kevin Wenck (wife Lindsay), Keith Wenck (fiancé Kate Zuber), Jacob Weitzman, Kathryn Weitzman; a great-grandchild: Gunnar Wenck; nephew: Ellis Weitzman (wife Colleen); great-nephew: Joel Weitzman (wife Shaddie), great-nieces: Jessica and Julie Weitzman; and great-great-nephew: Aaron Weitzman.

Services are 11 AM Wednesday (Nov. 14) in the Temple Covenant of Peace, 1451 Northampton St., Easton. Interment is in Easton Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Richard S. Weidman

Richard S. “Dick” Weidman, 85, of Bethlehem, formerly of Portland, Pa., died Sunday, November 11, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital – Anderson Campus with his family by his side.

Born December 2, 1932 in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late James Weidman, Jr. and Edith (Servis) Weidman.  He and his wife, Carol A. (Hamer) Weidman were married 62 years.

Dick was the comptroller for Bethlehem Steel, Marion Barbour Division, Bridgeport, W. Va., retiring in 1980 after 25 years.  Later he worked for the West Virginia Treasury Department in Charleston, W. Va.  He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and attended First Baptist Church, Bethlehem.

Surviving with his wife, Carol, are his son, Richard S. “Rick” Weidman, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Abington, Pa.; a brother, David Weidman and his wife, Robin, of Portland, Pa.; a sister, Stephanie Weidman of Portland, Pa.; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  His brother, James Weidman, III died earlier.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 17, 2018 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Portland Cemetery.

Karen M. Lucas

Karen M. Lucas, 64, of Freemansburg, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg.

Born October 1, 1954, she was the daughter of the late William and Josephine Lucas.

She worked for Access Services, Bethlehem for 15 years and was a member of Lehigh Valley Animal Rights Coalition.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph O. Doederlein, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in the Palace Restaurant, 3250 Easton Ave., Bethlehem.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Beatrice Hochwarter

Beatrice Hochwarter, 75, of Bethlehem, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in her home.

Born in Jackson, KY, she was a daughter of the late Amos and Ruth (Tolson) Back.  Her husband, George M. Hochwarter died in 2014.

Surviving are her daughters, Lori Ann Sliker, Deborah Huff, Maryann Chavous and Donna Trauger; her siblings, Ricky Back, Alma Jean Stull, Lillie Mae Back and Wanda Renie Bulger and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Linda G. Savitz

November 6, 2018

Linda G. Savitz, 68, of Bath, formerly of Easton, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in Easton Hospital.

Born July 6, 1950 in Wildwood, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Emma (Cole) Gregory.  She and her husband, Robert H. Savitz, were married 48 years.

She graduated from Easton Area High School in 1970, was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Easton and worked at New Eastwood Healthcare Center for 45 years.

In addition to her husband, Bob, she is survived by her sister, Lydia Gregory of Bath.  Her brothers, Richard, Thomas and Harry Gregory and her sister, Louise Meshach died earlier.

Jill L. Hunt

Jill L. Hunt, 60, of Upper Nazareth Township, died Saturday, November 3, 2018 in St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Born February 15, 1958 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Karl K. and Anne (Lewis) LaBarr.  She and her husband, James N. Hunt were married 35 years.

Jill worked at Northampton Community College and was a member of American Legion Post #9 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Riders.

Surviving with her husband, Jim, are two sons, Joshua Sage Hunt of Nazareth and Jesse James Hunt and his fiancé, Alyse, of Charleston, SC; a sister, Lisa Lounsbury and a brother, Paul LaBarr.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until service time on Wednesday in the funeral home.

Kenneth B. Sigafoos, Jr.

Kenneth Beitler “Butch” Sigafoos, Jr., 76 of Bushkill Twp., PA formerly of Easton passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Easton Hospital. Born September 1, 1942 in Easton he was the oldest child of Kenneth, Sr. and Marie (Davis) Sigafoos. He was a graduate of Easton High School Class of 1960, where he served as the chairman of the reunion committee and oldies dances. Ken was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Easton. He served with the Election Board of Bushkill Twp., Cherry Hill Division and recently received his 50-year pin from Easton Lodge #152, F & AM. Ken’s many hobbies included collecting postage stamps, pens and pencils, writing letters and sending almost 1300 Christmas cards. He was a very caring and sharing person to all those he touched and to all his beloved kitties.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years the former Janet L. Fogel; brothers: Thomas W. Sigafoos (wife Kathy) of Nazareth, PA, David B. Sigafoos (wife Kathe) of Forks Twp., PA; sisters: Sharon L. Fisher (husband Leon) of Forks Twp., Patti Ann Kish (fiancé Andy Causa, Jr. ) of Easton; nieces/nephews and great-nieces/nephews. A brother Robert A. Sigafoos died earlier.

Services are 2 PM Friday (Nov. 9) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation 6 to 8 PM Thursday. Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Sara L. Fox

Sara L. Fox, 98, of Easton, went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2018, at Old Orchard Manor Care.  “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:5).

She was born April 10,1920 in Pipersville, PA.  She was the daughter of Edward and Sadie Lambrite. She was a graduate of Frenchtown High School and Churchman’s Business School. She was a resident of Easton since 1939.  She worked as a secretary at Zearfoss Hilliard Lumber Company and was a member of Fellowship Church in Phillipsburg, NJ.  She enjoyed writing letters of encouragement to family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar J. Fox in 2004 and son Thomas Fox in 2017.  She is survived by her children Craig Fox and wife Gloria, daughter-in-law Carol and son Paul Fox of Easton, daughter Gail Haldeman and husband Steve of Sellersville, PA, 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Nov. 1st from 6:30 -8:00 p.m. at Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA.  A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at Fellowship Church, 300 Cromwell St., Phillipsburg, NJ 08865.
