Joseph Emmi

Joseph Emmi, 76, of Freehold, NY, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 in Easton.

Born July 29, 1941 in Queens, NY, he was a son of the late Anthony and Corinne (D’Italia) Emmi.

Surviving are his wife, Sheila (Rosenbaum) Emmi; sons, Gerald Schefflin, Steven Schefflin, Paul Schefflin, Howard Schefflin and Philip Schefflin; brother, Jack Emmi; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  His daughter, Edith D’Amato died in 2007.

Services will be private.  Interment in Roseto Presbyterian Cemetery.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Edward J. "Buddy" Rogers, Jr.

Edward J. “Buddy” Rogers, Jr.  73 of Easton, PA died Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. Born October 11, 1944 in Easton he was a son of the late Elsie (Schiele) and Edward Rogers, Sr. He was a Marine Corps Veteran and life member of the Fleas Club, Liberty Hose Club and Safety First Vol. Fire Co.  Buddy had been employed by Laros Printing in Bethlehem Twp. for many years. He also loved fishing, bowling, golfing and time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sheila E. (Harstine) Rogers; 3 sons: Edward, III of Wilson Borough, Russell and his wife Tara of Sciota, Jr., PA, Kevin and his wife Tanya of Bethlehem, PA; brothers: James of Wilson, John of Easton; sisters: Lois Wilson of Upper Nazareth Twp., PA, Fredrica Rogers of Wilson; and 8 grandchildren. A sister Roadlia Rogers died earlier.

A Memorial Gathering for the public will be held from 4 to 6:00 PM Friday, Feb. 23 at the West Easton Fire Company, 307 6th Street, West Easton, PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Russell S. Albert, Jr.

Russell S. Albert, Jr., 74, of Wilson Borough, died Thursday, February 15, 2018 in New Eastwood Healthcare Center.

Born April 8, 1943 in Easton, he was a son of the late Russell S. and Florence M. (Beohm) Albert.  His wife, Leona (Purdy) Albert died in 2006.

Russell worked for Cooper Industries, Palmer Township and retired in 2016 from Abec, Inc., Bethlehem.  He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his sons, Russell, Steven and Douglas Albert; sisters, Maryann Fisher and Donna Albert and 8 grandchildren.

Services will be private under the direction of the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton.

Lois Elizabeth Banghart, 80, of Easton, died Thursday, February 15, 2018 in The Gardens at Easton.  She was born July 5, 1937 in Hamburg, NJ.

Surviving are her children, Edward Banghart, Emma Ostrander, Sandra Kemmer, Martha Young and Lois McCabe and many brothers and sisters.

Margaret V. Ziegenfus

Margaret Viola Ziegenfus, 98 formerly of Easton, PA died Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Cedarbrook, Fountain Hill, PA. Born May 27, 1919 in Easton she was a daughter of the late William and Daisy (Kiefer) Benn.  She had been a Foster Parent for 47 children in the Easton area and a bus driver for Colonial Intermediate Unit 20. She was a member of Forks United Church of Christ, Stockertown and former member of the Blue Valley Garden Club, Dames of Malta and Order of the Eastern Star. She had also volunteered at Easton Hospital.

She is survived by 3 children: Nancy Lansing of Bethlehem, PA, Donald Mengel and his wife Billie of Myrtle Beach, SC, Cindy Doll and her husband Dave of Ackermanville, PA; 7 grandchildren: Tammy Wisk, Beth Miller, Jon Drosnock, Carter Lansing, Katie Snyder, Matthew Mengel, Amy White; 8 great-grandchildren; brother: James Benn; sisters: Edith Clause, Shirley Bajan, Ruth Kneebone, Carol Bronisoski; sister-in-laws: Doris Benn and Kathryn Benn. She was predeceased by husbands: Wilbert Mengel, Lewis Ziegenfus and Sterling Koch; siblings: William, Donald and John Benn, Dorothy Werkheiser, Betty Beers, Virginia Perine, daughter-in-law: Judith Mengel and 2 great-grandchildren.

Services are 10:30 AM Monday, Feb. 19, in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment: Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Georgia L. Sos

Georgia L. Sos, 79 formerly of Palmer Twp., PA went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Gracedale. Born October 8, 1938 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late James and Margaret Jallos. She was a volunteer at the Easton Area Neighborhood Center and an avid animal lover.

She is survived by her 4 children: Michele Kolb and her husband David of Danielsville, PA, Jim Sos and his wife Susan of Palmer Twp., Barry Sos and his wife Sandra of Hudson, WI, Karen Polgardy of Spring Hill, TN; sisters: Rosalie Greene of Bethlehem Twp., PA, Renee Maida of Williams Twp., PA; her children’s father: Michael Sos, Jr. of Palmer Twp., PA; 9 grandchildren: Christa, Brandon, Shayna, Selena, Adara, Alex, Brianna, Nicholas, Ivy; and great-grandson: Jason.  A sister Mary Jane Piatt died earlier.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Thursday, Feb. 15 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be private.

Lawrence A. “Larry” Marra, Jr.

Lawrence A. “Larry” Marra, Jr., 70, of Bethlehem Township, died Monday, February 12, 2018 in his home.

Born July 6, 1947 in Easton, he was a son of the late Lawrence A. Marra, Sr. and Francesca (Lombardi) Marra.

Larry was a commercial and residential landlord in the Lehigh Valley and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Easton.

He is survived by his companion, Flor De Maria Booke.

Services were private with interment in Easton Cemetery.

Richard “Spider” Parr

Richard "Spider" Parr

Richard “Spider” Parr, 81 formerly of Easton, PA left this world February 11, 2018 in Florida looking forward to love and peace with the Lord Jesus Christ. Born June 15, 1936 in Binghamton, NY, the youngest of five children to Leon and Martha Haring Parr, he was raised in Easton with his most enjoyable days attending Wolf Junior High School and Easton High School, Class of 1954 with the very best classmates one could have. Among those being his two loyal friends Frank Lavalva and Dave Frawley. He served five years in the Navy during the Korean War, four years aboard the Destroyer USS John Hood and one year a the Naval Air Development Center in Johnsville, PA.

After 30 years with the US Postal Service he retired and traveled to Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Arizona and California playing baseball for various teams including one in the Senior Olympics. His ten years with cancer played the decision to stop playing ball.

He is survived by the mother of his children, his first wife: Patricia Fisher; his daughter: Dorothy Nolasco (husband Jim); his son: Ricky Parr (wife Josie); and his sisters: Gladys Reed and Marge “Squirt” Weidner with whom he shared all the memories. He was predeceased by his second wife: Elizabeth Brooks Parr, brother: Donald Parr, USN and sister: Dorothy Bruno, Esq.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held 1:30 PM Friday (June 15) at Easton Cemetery, N. 7th Street, Easton, PA.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Spider was a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and would appreciate a donation to the same to save those children. Give flowers to those you love while thay are still with you.
