Janet E. Mohn, 83, of Easton, died Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Gracedale.

She was born January 8, 1934 in East Stroudsburg.  Her husband, Eugene O. Mohn died in 1973.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra J. Kowitz and her husband, Stephen, of Palmer Township; a son, Michael Eugene Mohn; a brother, James McNeal of Stroudsburg; 4 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

Angel Luis Colon

Angel Luis Colon, 55 of Easton, PA died Friday, November 17, 2017 at home. Born January 4, 1962 in Puerto Rico he was a son of the late Baldomero and Martina Colon.

He is survived by 3 daughters; 2 brothers; 5 sisters; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9 AM to 10 AM Wednesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton Street, Easton followed by a graveside service at 10:30 AM in Hays Cemetery.

Raymond Snyder

Raymond A. Snyder, 78 of White Twp., NJ formerly of Easton, PA died Monday, November 20, 2017 at home. Born February 15, 1939 in Shamokin, PA he was a son of the late Faye (Jones) and Clarence Snyder. He had been employed by the US Postal Service in Easton and Palmer for 35 years before retiring. He was a wrestler and 1957 graduate of Easton High School before serving in the US Navy.  He was a member and assisting pastor at Bethel Bible Church in Martins Creek. Ray also played in a men’s softball league and visited shut-ins at Gracedale.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years: Helga (Hofrichter); a son: Lee R. Snyder and his wife Tracy of Wilson Borough; a daughter: Kay Davis and her husband Peter of Kerhonkson, NY; a brother: Robert Snyder in Florida; a sister: Carol Purcell in Williams Twp., PA; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by his first wife: Mae (Mazzie).

Services are 10:30 AM Monday (Nov. 27) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be private.

Sylvia Carle

Sylvia Carle

Sylvia Carle, 102, of Canton, MA died Tuesday, November 14, 2017. Born Oct. 16, 1915 in Alpha, NJ she was a daughter of the late Minna (Sara) and Jacob Nussman. She grew up in Alpha and Phillipsburg, graduated from Lesley College and married Herbert Carle.  They lived in Phillipsburg until sons Larry and Jeffry graduated High School at which time they moved to Easton.

Sylvia ran a preschool daycare center, owned a stationary store with Herb and ultimately retired as a services worker for the state of PA. She did volunteer work for the National Cancer Society and Hadassah.  Her volunteer work for the Orchard Cove Library gave her the opportunity to share her love of reading with other residents, as well as provide numerous recommendations to family and friends.

She was Mom, Nana, Great Nana Sylvia, Aunti Syl to her much loved family and Sylvia to those that were fortunate enough to know her.  She was always interested in the lives of her family and friends and throughout her incredibly long life, her memory of every detail made those around her always feel special. Despite tragic events in her life, Sylvia was always positive and lived a life of dignity, poise and class.  She was the family Matriarch and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sister: Soni; grandsons: David, Jonathan, Michael and Eric; great grandsons: Max, Leo, Henry, Grant, Jack, Sam and Jacob; nieces: Judy, Carol, Janie, Lisa, Debbie, Kathi and Andrea; and nephews: Jon and Jerry. She was predeceased by husbands: Herbert Carle and Robert Shapiro; her sons: Larry and Jeffry Carle; her sister: Irene Cohn; brothers: Mitchel Nussman and Herbert Nussman: nephews: Randy Cohn and Michael Schindler; and niece: Susan Bilder

Services are 10:30 AM Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Temple Covenant of Peace, 1451 Northampton St., Easton. Interment is in Easton Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Kathryn V. “Kitty” Jewett

Kathryn V. “Kitty” Jewett, 96, of Seeley Lake, Montana, formerly of Palmer Township and New York City, died Monday, November 13, 2017 in Montana.

Born June 9, 1921 in Quakertown, she was a daughter of the late William and Minnie Clemmer.  Her husband of 65 years, Walter Jewett, Sr., died in 2003.

Kitty was a 50 year member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Borough and a member of the Senior Center in Seeley Lake.

Surviving are her son, Walter “Bud” Jewett, Jr. and his wife, Chris, of Seeley Lake and two grandchildren, Nancy Jewett of Easton and Michael Jewett of Easton.  Her brothers, Walter Clemmer and Harold Clemmer and her sisters, Marion Schafer and Anna Levy died earlier.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until service time on Tuesday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.  Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.

Dolores L. Wenger

Dolores L. Wenger, 86, of Wilson Borough, died Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Easton Hospital.

Born November 24, 1930 in Bronx, NY, she was a daughter of the late George and Leona (Beck) Klatt.  Her husband, Richard, died in 2004.

Dolores was a baker at Waldorf, Bronx, NY.

Surviving are her children, Tara Wenger of Wilson Borough, Gail Reichert of Thornhurst, PA, Dawn Murphy of Highland Park, NJ, and Richard Wenger of Easton; a sister, Lorraine Gioseffi; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  Her son, John Murphy and her daughter, Leona Kellett died earlier.

Services will be private.

John M. Sipos

John M. Sipos, 92, formerly of Bethlehem Township, died Saturday, November 11, 2017 in Oak Crest, Parkville, MD.

Born December 10, 1924 in Palmer Township, he was a son of the late Andrew and Theresa (Kovach) Sipos.  His wife, Frances L. (Nagle) Sipos died in 2012.

John worked for Dixie Cup, Wilson Borough, Sheridan Machine, Palmer Township, Air Products, Allentown and SI Handling, Forks Township.  He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and flew on B-29 Superfortresses in the Pacific Theatre.

He is survived by his son, Jon C. Sipos of Jarrettsville, MD.  His brother, Andrew Sipos died earlier.

Irene C. Stotz

Irene C. Stotz, 93, of Easton, died Monday, November 6, 2017 in Country Meadows.

Born September 17, 1924 in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Ruth (Weiss) Dankle.  Her husband, Thomas B. Stotz died in 1991.

Irene was a nurse at Allentown General Hospital and Allentown State Hospital.  She graduated from Allentown High School in 1942 and Allentown General Hospital School of Nursing in 1947.  She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Easton and the former Grace United Church of Christ, Easton where she taught Sunday school, served on Consistory and sang in the choir.  She was a member of Church Women United of Easton, the Matilda Butz Chidsey Circle of the Kings Daughters and Sons and she participated in the Nurses Health Study.

Surviving are her daughters, Martha I. Street and her husband, John, of Vienna, OH;  Carolyn S. Brehm and her husband, Fred, of Lawrenceville, NJ; Mary E. Hall and her husband, Russell, of Masury, OH and Molly S. Parry of Tatamy; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.   Her daughter, Jennifer A. Lynn died in 2003.

Services will be 10:00 am on Saturday, November 11, 2017 in First United Church of Christ, Easton.  A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday in the church.  Interment in Easton Heights Cemetery.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.
