Kathryn A. Earles

Kathryn A. Earles, 95, of Easton, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Whitehall Manor.

Born March 19, 1922 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late John and Magdalena (Hartman) Travers.  Her first husband, Clayton O. Laubach died in 1960 and her second husband, Harry J. Earles died in 1998.

Kathryn was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church.  She graduated from St. Philip and St. James High School in 1938 and was an active member of the Reunion Committee.  She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Easton Hospital and a member of the Senior Circle.  She was a charter member of Stones Crossing Swim Club and enjoyed attending and organizing musical events.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen (Laubach) Odlum and her husband, Jerome and Marcia (Earles) Brown and her husband, Jim; two sons, Jeffrey Laubach and Garry Earles; six grandchildren, Jason, Alexyss, Krista, Ashley, Christopher and Allison and five great grandchildren.  Her brother, John “Jack” Travers died earlier.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 14, 2017 in St. Jane Frances de Chantal Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Palmer Township.  A visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time on Friday in the church.  Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Katherine E. Picone

Katherine E. Picone, 91, of Easton, died Friday, July 7, 2017 in Gracedale.

Born July 2, 1926 in Wilson Borough, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Schlough) Brown.  He husband, Joseph W. Picone died in 1994.

Katherine was a housekeeper at Gracedale from 1975 to 1988.

Surviving are two sons, Terry L. Picone and his wife, Donna of Easton and Daniel K. Picone and his wife, Sherri of Harrington, DE; two daughters, Karen P. Grim and her husband, Tom of Allentown and Jacqueline M. Rubenstein and her husband, Michael of Uniontown, PA; a brother, Carl Brown; a sister, Christina Sonn; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  Her brothers, Fred Brown and Charles Brown and her sisters, Doris Washburn and Audrey Steible died earlier.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Wednesday in the funeral home.  Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Joan A. Harley

Joan Adrienne Harley, 82 of Easton, PA died Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus. Born October 13, 1934 in Easton she was a daughter of the late Harry and Lauretta (Fortner) Stewart. She was employed by the Moose Lodge, #45 , Easton for 22 years. Prior to that she was a secretary and member of the former Christ Lutheran Church, Easton where she also served on Altar Guild. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Palmer Twp. Joan loved playing bingo, going to craft shows and the casino, and time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years: Ted Harley; daughters: Renee Cavanaugh (Brian) in Ohio, Cyndi Olson (Tim) in Iowa, Kelly Woolley (John) of Nazareth, PA, Chrisann Lewert (Byron Fimiano) of Easton; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Melody Harley.

Services  are 11 AM Thursday (July 13) in St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 3900 Freemansburg Ave., Easton with visitation 10 to 11 AM in the church; interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Catherine A. Kemmerer

Catherine A. Kemmerer, 94, of Country Meadows, formerly of Easton, died Thursday, July 6, 2017 in Easton Hospital.

Born June 1, 1923 in Phillipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Weiss) Emley.  Her husband, E. James Kemmerer died in 2011.

Catherine was a member of Mountainview Moravian Church, Hellertown and a graduate of Churchman Business School, Easton.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan E. Kemmerer of Point Pleasant, NJ; two sons, David J. Kemmerer and his wife, Jane of Signal Mountain, TN and John R. Kemmerer and his wife, Jennie of Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Richard Emley and John Emley; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Jean E. Kinney

Jean E. Kinney, 81, of Easton, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Easton Hospital.

Born January 1, 1936 in Kearney, NJ, she was a daughter of the late George and Jean (Vanhouton) Wiedman, Sr.  Her husband, George Kinney died earlier.

Jean was a graduate of Belvidere High School.

Surviving are her sons, John, Bruce, Robert and William Colabaugh; a brother, George Wiedman, Jr. 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Jose Raul Alvarado

Jose′ Raul Alvarado, 57 of Easton, PA died Monday, July 3, 2017 at home. Born March 6, 1960 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico he was a son of the late Jose Alvarado and Carmen Oquendo.

He is survived by 2 daughters; 6 brothers; 5 sisters; 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Anne M. Magnuson

Anne M. Magnuson, 85 of Cresco, PA died Friday, June 30, 2017 at Jeans Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Born July 14, 1931 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Julia (McGee) and Harold O’Neill.  A 1949 graduate of Easton Catholic High School and devout catholic, she served on the ladies guild, as lector and Lay Eucharistic Minister at St. Bernadette’s in Canadensis.

She is survived by: her husband of 66 years, Gerald R. Magnuson;  her son: Michael Magnuson of Philadelphia, PA; her daughter: Karen Scannapieco and her husband Edward of Warrington, PA; and her granddaughter: Emily. Brothers William, Joseph and Harry O’Neill died earlier.

Mass will be held 10:30 AM Thursday (July 6) at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Easton, PA with visitation 7 PM to 8:30 PM Wednesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Lois I. Werner

Lois I. Werner, 90 of Palmer Twp., PA died Friday, June 30, 2017 at home. Born April 11, 1927 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Cora Jane “Jennie” (Schafer) and Kenneth Kirkpatrick. Her husband Thomas G. Werner died in 2014. She was a 1947 graduate of the Easton Hospital School of Nursing and worked for the hospital for several years. Lois was a member of Palmer Moravian Church, Palmer Twp. and Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #214.

She is survived by two daughters: Deborah Ann Vayda and her husband Tom of Palmer Twp., Nancy L. Humes and her husband Richard with whom she resided; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 1:30 PM Friday (July 7) in Palmer Moravian Church, 2901 John St., Palmer Twp. with a calling period from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM in the church. Interment is in Northampton Memorial Shrine. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.
