Janet Green, 63 of Easton, PA died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Easton Hospital.Born May 16, 1952 in Grosse Pointe, MI she was a daughter of the late Louis and Marian (Huston) Green.

Janet is survived by her sister Cindy Green of Brooklyn, NY. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Emery.

Faye Goldberg

Faye Goldberg, 90, formerly of Easton, PA and Monroe Twp., NJ died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in Chelsea at Bridgewater, Bridgewater, NJ. Born December 5, 1925 in Allentown, PA she was a daughter of the late Adolph and Emma (Beck) Gross.

She had been employed by the J.T. Baker, Co. in Phillipsburg, NJ for 30 years before retiring and was a member of Bnai Abraham Synagogue, Easton.

She is survived by her daughter: Sharon Gabriel of Chester, NJ and 3 granddaughters: Emilia Guasconi of Washington, DC, Gianna Guasconi of Berlin, Germany and Eva Guasconi of Westfield, NJ. Her husband William S. Goldberg died in 1983.

Services are private. Interment is in the Bnai Abraham Cemetery, Forks Twp., PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Helen F. Seifert

Helen F. Seifert, 98 of Forks Twp., PA died Monday, March 28, 2016 at ManorCare, Easton. Born February 15, 1918 in Suffield, CT she was a daughter of the late John and Frances (Suchocki) Wallace. Her husband, George C. Seifert died March 26, 2007.

She enjoyed working with her husband in the family business, George Seifert and Sons Trucking Company in Forks Twp., but she especially loved gardening and her grandchildren.

She is survived by a son: Clinton J. Seifert and his wife Edna of Forks Twp., and grandchildren: Sean and Alyssa Seifert. She was predeceased by her husband, George and a son: Timothy G. Seifert.

Joseph Simone, Jr.

Joseph “Alpha Joe” Simone, Jr., 87 formerly of Alpha, NJ died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Praxis in Easton. Born September 17, 1928 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Joseph and Myrtle (Leslie) Simone.  He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School and served honorably in both the Army and Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Alpha and had attended the Seminary.  Joe was also a member of the Alpha Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law: Alice Simone. Joe was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: Theresa Barnhardt, Grace D’Angelo, Herbert Simone and Edward Cline.

Services will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements. Interment will be in St. Philip and St. James Cemetery.

Robert G. Cornell

Robert G. Cornell, 87, of Forks Township, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in his home.

Born June 24, 1928 in Belltown, PA, he was a son of the late Lewis and Dolly (Zanoni) Cornell.

He and his wife, Darlene (Edwards) Cornell were married 25 years.  His first wife, Doris (Fowler) Cornell died in 1988.

Robert was an engineer for General Electric and Trane in Louisville, KY.  He attended University of Louisville, served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.  He was a member of Lodge #740, F & AM, Louisville, Past Master of Lodge #50, F & AM, Stanardsville, VA and he played in the Mello-Aires dance band.

Surviving with his wife, Darlene are a son, Dennis Cornell; step-children, Emerson Donell and Jennifer Rennells; and 3 grandchildren.

Sydney Kathleen Highberger

March 18, 2016

Sydney Kathleen Highberger, 81 of Anderson, SC died Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Brookdale Health Center after a long fight with COPD. Born June 5, 1934 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Harvey J. and Dorothy (Bates) Young.

A graduate of Wilson High School, she received her RN from St. Luke’s School of Nursing and worked as a delivery nurse until she began a family of her own. Sydney loved to spend time with friends and family. She traveled, enjoyed entertaining and loved to celebrate life.

She is survived by her husband: Paul; her daughter: Kathleen Beard; her sons: Andy and Steve Highberger; her brother: Tom Young and his wife Ann; 5 grandchildren and a great-grandson.

A Graveside Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, March 26 at Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Rd., Easton, PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Alan R. Shimer

Alan R. Shimer, 82, of Wilson Borough, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in his home.

His wife, Barbara J. (Rhymer) Shimer, died in 2011.

Born August, 9, 1933 in Wilson Borough, he was a son of the late Arthur C. and Dora A. (Uhler) Shimer.

Alan graduated from Wilson High School in 1951 and served in the Navy during the Korean War.  He was a school bus driver for Easton Area School District for over 10 years.  Prior to that he worked for Maier’s Bakery, Wilson Borough.  He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Borough where he was the Sexton and served on Church Council.

Surviving are two daughters, Lynda A. Baker and her husband, Roger of Wilson Borough and Susan E. Limeberry and her husband, Craig of Forks Township; a son, David A. Shimer and his wife, Karen of Nazareth; seven grandchildren, Ed Griffin, Rebecca Griffin, Craig Limeberry, Jr., Tyler Limeberry, Brooke Limeberry, Alan Shimer and Lauren Pysher; and two great grandchildren, Bryce and Quinn.  His brother, Donald Shimer died earlier.  Alan also loved all of his dogs.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 18, 2016 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2115 Washington Blvd., Wilson Borough.  A visitation will be held from 7 – 8:30 pm on Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  Interment with Military Honors will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
