Roberta W. Thompson

Roberta W. Thompson, 87, formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Easton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born October 8, 1927 in Phillipsburg, NJ she was a daughter of the late Florence (Swartz) and William Kiefer.

A graduate of Phillipsburg High School, she had been a secretary at the Ingersoll-Rand Corporation for many years.

She is survived by two daughters: Susan Cocco and her husband James, Jr. of Cumming, GA; Nancy Thompson of Santa Barbara, CA; 2 grandchildren: Robert and Andrea and a niece: Joy Polito of Strasburg, VA. She was predeceased by her husband: James Thompson in 2011 and a sister: Hazel Bonnell.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Kenneth S. DiStefano

Kenneth S. DiStefano, 57, of Bethlehem Twp., PA died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at home surrounded by family.

Born September 21, 1957 in Woodbury, NJ he was a son of Martha (See) and Harry DiStefano of Mickleton, NJ.  He and his wife the former Diana Cerra were married 27 years.

A graduate of Rider College, he was the CFO of the Bazzini Company in Allentown, PA. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Easton and proud supporter of the Lehigh Valley Tea Party.

He is survived by his parents: Harry and Martha; his wife: Diana; 2 children: John and Christina, both at home; 2 brothers: Greg of Philadelphia and Eric of Livermore, CA; 2 sisters: Sherry Piligno of Williamstown, NJ and Judy Collins of Manasquan, NJ.

Service will be 11 AM Wednesday (April 29) in Calvary Baptist Church, 5300 Green Pond Road, Easton with visitation 5 to 8 PM Tuesday in  the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St. , Easton, PA.

Lorraine L. Kunkel

Lorraine L. Kunkel, 86, of Forks Twp., PA died Friday, April 24, 2015 at home. Born September 4, 1928 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Grace (Gardner) and Walter Kramer.

Prior to marriage she had been an executive secretary at the former Dixie Cup Co. for several years.

She is survived by a daughter: Lori Kunkel of Ocean City, MD; a son: Dr. Alan H. Kunkel, Jr. and his wife Diane of Palmer Twp., PA; 3 sisters: Elizabeth Evans of Allen, TX, Nancy Kramer of Palmer Twp., PA, Helena Briglia of Carpentersville, NJ; a granddaughter: Heather Tita and her husband Louis, III of Stroudsburg, PA and 3 great-grandchildren: Lorenzo, Angelina and Bianca. She was predeceased by her husband Alan H. Kunkel, Sr. in 2005 and a sister Virginia Kramer.

Graveside service will be held 11 AM Tuesday (April 28) in the Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Rd., Easton, PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

H. Charles Wyant

H. Charles Wyant, 76, of Phillipsburg, NJ died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Warren Campus. Born April 15, 1939 in Easton, PA he was a son of the late Alice (Ihrie) and Clarence Wyant.

A 1959 graduate of Easton High School, he had been employed by Garden State Farms Ice Cream Factory and Ferguson Container for many years. He had also been a volunteer for the Suburban Rescue Squad.

He is survived by two sisters: Georgia Holtz and Shirley Wyant both of Forks Twp., PA; adopted son: Charles D. Wyant; godchild: Kelly McPherson; 2 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother: George Wyant and sisters: Eleanor Thompson, Betty Rhein, Marion Hoffman and Jane Alpaugh.

Services are private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling arrangements.

Carl Deemer, Jr.

Carl Deemer, Jr., 91, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Brakeley Care Center in Phillipsburg, NJ.  Born January 8, 1924 in Springtown, NJ  he was a son of the late Ada (Easterly) and Carl Deemer, Sr.

He had been employed by Riegel Paper in Milford, NJ for 45 years before retiring and had served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Alaska and USS Texas.  He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Darcy Lodge #37, F&AM, Frenchtown.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Grace (Haring) Deemer; 3 children: Carl Deemer, III, Gail Vasko and her husband Joseph, and Yvonne Deemer; a sister: Rebecca Hamlin; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Brothers: Albert, James, Howard and Richard Deemer and sisters: Helen Vargo and Betty Kostolanci all died earlier.

Services will be Noon on Saturday (Apr. 25) in Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church, 17 Greenwich Church Rd., Stewartsville, NJ, with visitation from 11 a.m. to noon and Masonic service at 11:30 a.m.  Interment with military honors will follow in Greenwich Cemetery, Stewartsville. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton, PA is handling arrangements.

Raymond J. Blied

Raymond J. Blied, 76, of Palmer Township, formerly of Asbury Park, NJ, died Saturday, April 18, 2015 in ManorCare, Old Orchard.

Born June 13, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of the late Carl and Nora May (Hagner) Blied.

Raymond worked for Ford Motor Co., Edison, NJ until retiring in 1988.

Surviving are a daughter, Donna L. Briggs and her husband, David of Palmer Township; a son, Raymond J. Blied, Jr. and his wife, Kim of Neptune, NJ, and two grandchildren, Jacqueline and Charles.

James S. Williams

April 16, 2015

James Santell Williams, 97 of Easton, PA died Thursday, April 16, 2015 in the St. Luke’s Hospice House.  Born December 25, 1917 in Cuspid, Georgia he was a son of the late Ella (Stock) and Ed Williams.

He had been employed by Bethlehem Steel as a crane operator from 1942 until retiring in 1980 and was a member of Second Baptist Church and Elks Lodge #1284, Bethlehem.

He is survived by five children: James Williams, Jr. of Greensboro, NC, Terry Caldero and Jamie Williams of Bethlehem, PA, Lisa Williams of Reading, PA, Janie Washington of Philadelphia, PA; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 6 brothers and 5 sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Thursday (Apr. 23) in the Second Baptist Church, 1016 Wood St., Bethlehem, PA.

Ronald J. Rawson

Ronald J. Rawson, 62, of Easton, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in his home.

Born November 10, 1952 in Easton, he was a son of the late Peter and Eleanor J. (Hoetger) Rawson.

He and his wife, the former Agnes M. Kale were high school sweethearts and were married for 38 years.  He was a loving and caring husband.

Ronald worked for General Supply Co. from 1990 to 2006.  Prior to that he worked for Hummel Lumber from 1972 to 1990.  He graduated from Easton Area High School in 1970 and earned a degree in accounting from Churchman Business School in 1972.  He was an avid Dodger fan and enjoyed all sports, especially baseball.  He was a baseball card collector and enjoyed traveling.

He was a member of the former First Evangelical Congregational Church, Easton where he served as Treasurer and Board President.  He attended First Baptist Church, Easton and Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church, Bethlehem.

Surviving with his wife, Agnes, are a brother, Elwyn Rawson and his wife, Margaret of Macungie and a sister-in-law, Shirley Rawson of Wilson Borough.  His brother, Raymond K. Rawson, Sr. and his sister, Janice M. Rawson died earlier.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 20, 2015 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time on Monday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in Forks Cemetery.
