Janet L. Knerr Yost

Janet Lillian Knerr Yost, 85 passed away March 5, 2015 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem. Born in Bridgeville, NJ on March 4, 1930, her family moved to Belvidere, NJ in 1943.

She was a graduate of  Belvidere High School and Churchman’s Business College in Easton, PA and worked as a secretary until 1992. She was a member of the former Calvary United Methodist Church in Easton from 1950 to 1992 and was a resident of Marion Landing in Ocala, FL for 21 years.

She is survived by two sons: Charles L. and his wife Sharon of Bloomsburg, PA, David C. and his wife Deena of Bethlehem, PA; a daughter Lillian C. of Bethlehem PA;  7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;  2 great-great grandchildren and former husband C. Allen Yost of Bethlehem. She was predeceased by a granddaughter in 2012.

A Memorial Service will be held 7 PM  Friday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA with a calling period from 6 to 7 PM. Interment will be private in Belvidere Cemetery.

Julie Reibman

Julie Reibman, 63, of Palmer Twp., PA died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at ManorCare, Palmer Twp., PA. Born August 13, 1951 in Plainfield, NJ she was a daughter of the late Thomas E., Sr. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Goldsack) Blair.

An avid crocheter, Julie enjoyed all crafts and she especially loved time spent with her children, her grandchildren and all her pets.

She is survived by three children: Chris Reibman of New Tripoli, PA, Betty Reibman of Palmer Twp., David Reibman and his wife Allison of Palmer Twp.; a sister: Noel Blair of Stroudsburg, PA; three granddaughters: Amanda, Meagan and Hannah; and a great-grandson. She was predeceased by her husband Paul “Pete” Reibman in 2005 and her brother Thomas E. Blair, Jr.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday (March 10) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA with a calling period from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Elizabeth I. “Betty” Solliday

Elizabeth I. “Betty” Solliday, 89, of Easton, died Monday, March 2, 2015 in her home.

Born November 28, 1925 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Marian (Bean) Caviezel.

Her husband, Albert H. Solliday died in 1994.

Betty was a member of New Creation United Church of Christ, Palmer Township, Church Women United, and Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are two sons, Scott D. Solliday of Jacksonville, FL and Todd P. Solliday of Palmer Township;  four sisters, Joyce, Doris, Louise, and Alice and two grandchildren.  Her son, Randy H. Solliday and her sister Eleanor died earlier.

Services will be private.  Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Charles Reibman

Charles Reibman, 97, the last survivor of Louis and Eda (Kilbansky) Reibman’s ten children passed away Friday, February 27, 2015 at Kirkland Village, Bethlehem, PA after a short illness.

Born October 6, 1917 in New York City, he was predeceased by his wife Helen (Gold) Reibman, his son Ronald Reibman, six sisters: Elizabeth Tuft, Sylvia Reibman, Lillian Marcus, Libby Siegel, Frances Kagan, Ruth Melnick and three brothers: Nathan, David and Harold Reibman.

A 1935 graduate of Easton High School, he was co-owner of Reibman’s Children Shop in Easton for many years. He had been employed with J & J Distributors of Milburn, NJ until his retirement in 1982. He was an active member of the former Merchants Association of the Easton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Charles was a proud World War II Army veteran who served forty-one months in the Southwest Pacific Theatre. His tips for longevity included: eating bananas, drinking orange juice and coffee, avoiding x-rays, smoking cigars, betting on horses at the racetrack and frequent hand washing.

He is survived by his sons: Glenn and his wife Sue Ann of Forks Twp., PA; Gordon and his wife Elaine of Hamilton, NJ; and Roger of Bethlehem Twp., PA; four grandchildren: Clay, Morgan, Matthew and Mark Reibman and a daughter-in-law Dianna of Cumming, GA. He previously resided in Harrisburg with his companion of thirty-two years Lydia Miller.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (Mar. 3) at the Temple Covenant of Peace, 1451 Northampton St., Easton, PA. Interment will be in Easton Cemetery. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Charlotte C. “Dolly” Hay

Charlotte "Dolly" Hay

Charlotte C. “Dolly” Hay, 88, of Phillipsburg, NJ formerly of Easton, PA died Sunday, February, 22, 2015 at home.
Born January 8, 1927 in Easton, PA she was the daughter of the late Elmer J., Sr. and Charlotte M. (Kraus) Hay.

She had been employed by Keystone Snacks, Easton for 16 years before retiring, prior to that she worked at the Pretzel Factory in Easton for 25 years and at Sheridan Printing in Easton. She was a volunteer at Easton Hospital for 50 years, volunteering more than 13,000 hours.

She is survived by her brother: Elmer J. “Sonny” Hay, Jr. with whom she resided; an aunt: Grace Kraus of Easton, PA; a nephew and great-nieces and nephews.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 26) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will be in Easton Heights Cemetery.

Paul R. “Bin” Haviland, Jr.

Paul Robbins “Bin” Haviland, Jr., 79, formerly of Richboro, PA died Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Southampton Estates, Southampton, PA.

Born May 4, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late Paul R., Sr. and Clarissa (Reed) Haviland.

A graduate of Westtown School Class of 1953 and Haverford College Class of 1957, he received his Master’s Degree from Villanova University in 1970.  He was a Counselor at the Bucks County Community College for more than 30 years before retiring. Prior to that he had been employed by Pierce Junior College and Delaware County Community College.  He was a member of the Wrightstown Monthly Meeting, Newtown, PA and former member of the Savoy Company.

He is survived by three nephews: David S. Chase, Peter H. Chase, Jonathan H. Chase; a niece: Susan Chase Nye and eight great-nieces and nephews. His sister: Judith H. Chase died in 2005.

A Memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8th at Southampton Estates, 238 Street Road, Southampton, PA in the 2nd floor, Auditorium.

Anne L. Schippers

Anne L. Schippers, 93, formerly of Williams Twp., PA died Saturday, February 14, 2015 in Deland, FL.

Born August 31, 1921 in Grove Twp., PA she was the daughter of the late Millard and Gertrude (McConnell) Dougherty. Her husband William R. Schippers, Jr. died 1990.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Easton and a graduate of the Pierce Business School in Philadelphia.  She had worked in the office of Schippers Service in Easton for many years.

She is survived by two sons: William R. Schippers, III with whom she resided, Robert J. Schippers of Williams Twp., PA; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her brother M. Richard Dougherty died earlier.

Graveside service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, May 16  at St. John’s Union Cemetery, New Williams, 2745 Morgan Hill Road, Williams Twp., PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton, PA is handling the arrangements.

Eleanor Ann Post

Eleanor Ann Post, 87, of Stockertown, died Friday, February 13, 2015 in Easton Hospital.

Born November 9, 1927 in White Plains, NY, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Mary (Kopilak) Ebilhart.

Eleanor worked in Child Watch of the Family YMCA of Easton for 15 years and retired in 2001.  He husband, John R. Post died in 1993.

Surviving are her daughter, Marianne Hunt and her husband, Bob of Stockertown, a son Jack Post of Washington, NJ, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Her son, Robert A. Post died in 2010.
