Kenneth W. Morrow

Kenneth W. Morrow, 80 of Williams Twp., PA died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at his home.

Born July 9, 1934 in Easton, PA he was a son of the late Walter and Lottie (Jones) Morrow. His wife, Barbara (Gerhart) Morrow died in November.

He had been employed by R.S. Hahn & Sons, Inc., Easton for many years as a sheet metal fabricator before retiring.  Prior to that he worked for an area oil burning company.

He is survived by nieces, nephews and his loyal companion: Daisy, a beloved pet.  Three brothers: Lester, Floyd and Donald Morrow all died earlier.

Services will be private; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton, PA is handling the arrangements.

Carlton Vance Hageman

December 31, 2014

Carlton Vance Hageman, 97, of Palmer Township, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in his home.

Born February 26, 1917 in Easton, he was a son of the late Carl D. and Ruth L. (Hester) Hageman.

His wife, the former Nancy Shackleton died in May.  He graduated from Wilson High School in 1934 and served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS LSM-089 in Japan and the South Pacific.  He was an Engineering Field Representative at Sheridan Machine, Palmer Township for 40 years and received several patents before retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Palmer Moravian Church, a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, a 50 year member of Dallas-Lafayette Lodge #396, Free and Accepted Masons, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Knights Templar, Royal Arch Masons and Grand Council of Royal and Select Master Masons.

Surviving are his daughters, Sandy Seiple of Palmer Township and Karen Milburn and her husband, Bob of Palmer Township, a brother, Richard Hageman of Palmer Township, 3 grandchildren, Jeffrey Seiple, Leslie Guffy and Brett Milburn and 6 great grandchildren.  His sisters, Joyce Hamlen and Maude Mertz died earlier.

Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 3 in Palmer Moravian Church, Palmer Township.  Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Norman Seidel

Norman Seidel, 96, of Palmer Twp., PA died Monday, December 29, 2014 at home.

Born February 13, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA he was a son of the late Louis Seidel and Eva (Cohen) Seidel Rubin.

He was an Attorney in the Easton area starting in private practice in 1941, then with the Seidel, Cohen, Hof and Reid Law offices. He was a graduate of Easton High School in 1934, Lafayette College in 1938 and the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1941.

An active member of Bnai Abraham Synagogue, Wilson, he was a Past President of the Northampton County Bar Association; Counsel for the Easton Redevelopment Authority and a Founder of ProJeCt of Easton. He also served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

He is survived by two daughters: Jan Panto and her husband Joe of Forks Twp., PA; Judy Waldman and her husband Bruce of Bethlehem, PA; and four grandchildren: Jack and his wife Christina, Samantha, Casey and Buckley Waldman. He was predeceased by his wife, Myriel (Cohen) Seidel in 2009 and his brother Irv Seidel.

Services will be held at Noon Tuesday, Dec. 30 in Bnai Abraham Synagogue, 16th & Bushkill Streets, Easton, PA. Interment will be in Bnai Abraham Cemetery, Forks Twp., PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Yen Trong Le

Yen Trong Le, 45 of Easton, PA died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus. Born September 1, 1969 in Vietnam, he was a son of Le Tran of Easton and the late On Le.

He was artistically creative and a very talented nail technician.

He is survived by his wife: Huong T. Ngo; 3 children: Jack Le, Dat Ngo, Julia Ngo; brothers and sisters.

Joyce L. Peck

Joyce L. Peck, 81, of Palmer Twp., PA died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at her home. Born August 17, 1933 in Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Russell and Leoline (Williams) Pleiss.

A 1951 graduate of Easton High School, she had been a phone operator for Bell Telephone for many years and had also been employed at the Easton Filtration Plant.

She was a member of the Audubon Society and an avid birder.

She is survived by a sister: Kay Fister in New Castle, PA; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Richard A. Peck in 2010 and a sister Jean Lanan, this year.

Services will be private; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton, PA is handling the arrangements.

Martin J. "Charlie" Deemer, Jr.

Martin J. “Charlie” Deemer, Jr., 24 of Easton, PA died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at home.

Born November 30, 1990 in Easton, PA he was a son of Martin J. Deemer, Sr. and Carol Marie Apgar with whom he resided.

He was a 2010 graduate of Easton High School who loved working on cars, motorcycles and time with his friends. He was previously employed at the Woodland Hills Golf Course.

He is survived by his parents: Martin and Carol; 2 sisters: Danielle Apgar and Mary Deemer; grandfather: Raymond Deemer, Sr., aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by grandparents: Kenneth Apgar, Sr. and Gladys Deemer.

A Memorial Service will be held 3 PM Tuesday (Dec. 30) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with a calling period from 2 to 3 p.m.

Nathan Melnick

Nathan Melnick

Nathan Melnick, 98, of Easton, PA died Friday, December 19, 2014 at home. Born August 14, 1916 in Blossburg, PA he was the son of the late Jacob and Mary (Fingerman) Melnick.

A graduate of Bangor High School, he was the founder and owner of Wellmade Novelty Co. in Bangor and co-founder of Country Miss in Bangor all before retiring in 1984. He served in the Army during WWII attached to the combined Chief of Staff in Washington, DC.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Bangor Lodge, F. & A. M. and member of the Temple Covenant of Peace, Easton.

He is survived by two daughters: Ellen of Chicago, IL, and Gail of Philadelphia, PA. His wife: Ruth (Reibman) Melnick died in 1995. Sisters: Edith Gruber, Dorothy Edelsen and brother: Everett Melnick all died earlier.

Services will be 11:00 AM Monday (Dec. 22) in Temple Covenant of Peace, 15th and Northampton Streets, Easton, PA. Interment will be in Easton Cemetery.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Dante DeBerardinis

Dante DeBerardinis, 91, formerly of Palmer Township, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

Born September 29, 1923 in Martins Creek, he was a son of the late Antonio and Rose (Ronco) DeBerardinis.  His wife, the former Betty Williams died earlier.

He was an engineer for Ingersoll-Rand, Cameron Pump Division and retired in 1985 after 38 years.  He was a graduate of Pen Argyl High School and received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Lehigh University in 1947.  He served in the Air Force during WWII in the Mediterranean theater and received the Purple Heart and the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Nazareth, American Legion Post #9 and was a life member of Lords Valley Sportsmen’s Club, Pike County.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise A. Ubaldi of Gulf Breeze, a brother, Anthony DeBerardinis, DMD of Bushkill Township, a sister, Lucy DeBerardinis of Pen Argyl and a granddaughter, Vanessa Beeler.  His companion, Doris Strickland died in 2010.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nazareth.
