Dorothy F. Mitek, 94, of Forks Township, formerly of Mt. Carmel, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in Country Meadows.

She was born September 29, 1920 in Mahanoy City.

Her husband, Michael J. Mitek died in 2001.

Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish and was an Auxiliary Member of the Legion of Mary.

Surviving are two sons, Michael J. Mitek, Jr. and Gregory F. Mitek; a daughter, Patricia A. Johnson; a sister, Geraldine; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her grandson, Matthew died earlier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 4th in Our Lady of Mercy, St. Bernard’s Oratory, 132 S. 5th St., Easton.  A visitation will be held from 9:30 am until service time on Thursday in the church.  Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.  Offer online condolences at www.AshtonFuneralHome.com.

James Vincent Campitelli passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in Easton, Pennsylvania.  He was 88 years old.

James was born on February 20, 1926 to Mary and Ralph Campitelli. He was raised in Windber, Pennsylvania.  James was a veteran of the United States Navy and the U.S. Air Force, and served as a highly skilled radio operator.  He was married for 58 years to the love of his life, Caroline Campitelli, who passed away on August 30, 2013.

James was a self-taught television repairman who established his business, Maplewood Television, in Maplewood, New Jersey, where he remained a successful and respected businessman for over 30 years.

James was a wonderful man, loved by everyone who knew him.  He was generous and warm-hearted.  His favorite activity was to cook pasta for everyone on Sundays.  He would play endless games of chess, and he especially loved cigars and playing poker with his family.

James is survived by his children, Diana Gaillard and her husband Thomas, James Joseph Campitelli, and Elena Angeliadis and her husband Louis, as well as his grandchildren, Daniel Warzynski, Thomas Gaillard, Jena and Julia Angeliadis.  He is also survived by his brother John, and his sisters, Rosalie, Louise, Virginia, Margie and Leona.  James is preceded in death by his mother Mary Campitelli, his father Ralph Campitelli, his sisters, Eleanor and Joanne, and his brother Carl.

Visitation for James will be held Saturday, November 29, from 2pm to 5pm, at the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St. in Easton, PA.  A service will be held  Monday, December 1 at 1:45 pm at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave., E. Hanover, NJ.

Carolyn Pokrivchak of Easton passed away on November 23, 2014. She was 86. She was born Carolyn May Markley on May 23, 1928, the daughter of Edward Markley and Lyda Konn Markley of Easton.

She graduated from Wilson High School in 1946 and from the University of Pennsylvania in 1950. She married Wilson classmate George Pokrivchak in 1952, and taught in the Easton Public Schools until their first child, Amy, was born in 1956, with a second, Max, following in 1958. After Amy passed away in 1972 the family moved to Findlay, Ohio, where Carolyn resumed her career teaching children with special needs until her retirement in 1995. She and her husband George returned to Easton, residing on College Hill and spending their summers at Del Haven on the Delaware River. Carolyn was a member of AAUW Easton Branch and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Easton. George passed away in 2005, and in 2013 Carolyn moved to the Easton Home.

Carolyn is survived by her son Max, of Boston, a musician and author who performs under the name Terry Kitchen;  her sister Sue Markley Okamoto, of Holland, PA;  and her step-brother John Starkey, of Sebastopol, CA. Carolyn’s older sister Doris Markley Herb passed away in 1988 and her younger sister Beverly Markley Johnston passed away in 1998.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 26) in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 330 Ferry St., Easton, PA with visitation from  5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 25) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, PA and 9:30 to 10 a.m.  Wednesday in the church. Interment will be in Easton Cemetery.

Barbara A. Morrow, 76, of Williams Twp., PA died Saturday, November 22, 2014 in Easton Hospital.

Born February 24, 1938 in Phillipsburg, NJ she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mildred (Transue) Gerhart.

A 1955 graduate of Easton High School,  she had been employed by Dr. Wes Kozin for 23 years and Dr. Pradip Toshniwal and Dr. Prasad Ancha for 11 years before retiring. She had been a member of the former Calvary United Methodist Church, Easton.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years: Kenneth W. Morrow. Her brother Robert Sweitzer died earlier.

Services will be private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Barbara Ann (Dickenshied) Hemstreet, 86, of Palmer Twp., PA died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus. Born November 22, 1927 in Easton, PA she was the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Kocher) Dickenshied.

She was a 1945 graduate of Easton High School and a graduate of Churchman’s Business College. She had been employed for more than 10 years by Commonwealth Abstract Co. before retiring.  Prior to that she was employed by Kressler, Wolff and Miller, Inc.  She also modeled occasionally for Lenny’s of Easton.

She was a member Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Borough, the D.A.R., the U.R Welcome Club and had been active with the wives organization of the PA Bar Association, where her husband, the late Atty. James A. Hemstreet was a member.

She is survived by four daughters: Gretchen Fegley and her husband Ross of Milton, PA and their children: Jennifer (Russ) Bestenheider, Sarah (Michael) Stein, and Christina; Kathy Weber and her husband Tim of Chester Springs, PA and their children: Bryan (Lindsay), Kyle (Meghan), Shaun (Hetal) and Daniel; Peggy Cochran and her husband Peter of Easton, PA and their children: Douglas and Henry; Heidi Jurgens and her husband Chris of Raleigh, NC and their children: Mary, Anna and Katie; four great-grandchildren: Julien, Vivienne, Owen and Bennett Weber; sister-in-law: Martha “Petey” Dickenshied of Sun City Center, FL; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James in 2009, a brother Richard Dickenshied and 2 sisters: Jean Swift and Betty Neumann.

Services will be held at Noon on Monday (Nov. 24) in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2115 Washington Blvd., Easton with a calling period from 3 to 4:30 PM Sunday (Nov. 23) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
