Maria DeCarmen Troche Rosado, 86, of Easton, died January 2, 2014 in North Carolina.

Born:  September 11, 1927 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico.

Survivors:  Eight sons, eight daughters, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services:  A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, Jan. 10 at South Easton Cemetery, West Lincoln and Iron Streets, Easton.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Raymond J. Canfield

Raymond J. Canfield, 80 of Bethlehem, PA died Sunday, December 29, 2013 in Whitehall Manor.

Personal: He had been employed by Western Electric for many years.

Survivors: Wife and step children.

Gladys E. Endress

Gladys E. Endress, 89, of Palmer Twp. , PA died Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Easton Hospital.

Born: January 6, 1924 in Phillipsburg, NJ she was the daughter of the late George and Emma (Hofschild) Endress.

Personal: A 1943 graduate of Phillipsburg High School, she had been employed by Ingersoll Rand for 30 years before retiring in 1986.

Survivors: Dear friend Peg Imboden and her family. She was predeceased by brothers: Earl, Henry and Edward.

Services: Will be private; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Donald Bruce English

December 21, 2013

Donald Bruce English, 72, of Easton, died Saturday, December 21, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Born:  December 15, 1941 in Scranton, he was a son of the late Claude Sax English and Ruth Inez (Leader) English.

Personal:  He and his wife, the former Joan M. Horvath were married 46 years.  He was a police officer for the Easton Police Department for 31 years most recently serving as the Crime Prevention Officer until retiring in 2002.  He was an Intelligence Specialist in the Navy Reserve for 21 years.  He also served as the Northampton County Court liaison.  He graduated from Wilson Area High School in 1959 and was a graduate of Lehigh County Community College and East Stroudsburg University.  He received his master’s degree from Villanova University.

Memberships:  Donald was a member of Palmer Moravian Church where he served as an elder, trustee and head sacristan.  He served on the board of the Boy’s Club, Easton.  He was president of the Exchange Club, Easton and the Pennsylvania Crime Prevention Officer’s Association.  He was a member of the American Society of Industrial Security, the Navy Enlistment Reserve Association (NERA), Easton Lodge #152, F&AM, and a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite Valley.

Survivors:  wife, Joan; a daughter, Jennifer B. Keefer of Frederick, MD; a son, Bruce M. English of Howard, PA; two brothers, Dr. Jack E. English and Brian W. English; and a grandson, Matthew.  Two brothers, Glenn A. English and Wayne C. English died earlier.

Services:  Services will be held at 2:30 pm Friday, Dec. 27 in Palmer Moravian Church, 2901 John St., Palmer Township.  A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 pm in the church with Masonic Services at 2:00 pm.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Arleen Stengel

Arleen Stengel, 91, formerly of Bethlehem Twp., PA died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in Alexandria Manor, Nazareth.

Born: March 27, 1922 in Upper Black Eddy, PA she was a daughter of the late Harold and Sara (Templeton) Brown. Her husband: Norman C. Stengel died in 1999.

Personal: A 1939 graduate of Frenchtown High School, she had been employed by Riegel Paper in Milford, NJ for several years and was an Avon Representative.

Memberships: She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem and AARP, Whitehall.

Survivors: Sons: Donald N. Stengel and his wife Priscilla Chaffe-Stengel of Clovis, CA; Douglas Stengel of Bethlehem, PA; a daughter: Diane Mann and her husband Richard Mann of Nazareth, PA; and 2 granddaughters: Peyton and Mackenzie. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman and siblings: Vernon and H. Glenn Brown, Dorothea Drake and Iris Phillips.

Services: Will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday (Dec. 23) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Howard Jay Josephs

Howard Jay Josephs, 53, of Upper Nazareth Twp., PA died unexpectedly Friday, December 13, 2013 in his home.

Born: June 16, 1960 in Lower Merion Twp., PA he was a son of the late Jay Josephs and Fern Cooper Josephs Goldberg.

Personal: He was employed by Tursack Printing for the past 8 years; prior to that he owned Pocono Press in Cresco, PA. He was a graduate of R.I.T. and an avid golfer and Philadelphia Eagles fan with season tickets. He also coached boys and girls soccer and basketball.

Memberships: He was the President of the Palmer Kiwanis Club and Past-President of the Tannersville Lions Club, named Lion of the Year in 2004. He served on the Small Business Council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and was on the Board of the Nazareth Chamber of Commerce. He had also served on the Board of the Graphic Arts Council and was a member of the Palmer Fire Co. Social Club.

Survivors: His wife of 28 years: Sherry (Edinger); daughter: Elizabeth Scott of Nazareth, PA; son: Jeffrey at home; brothers: Steven of State College, PA; Jonathan of Chappaqua, NY; sister: Lisa Audet of Lighthouse Point, FL; step-sister: Sallie Glickman of Philadelphia; granddaughters: Alicia and Alanah; step-mother: Roselee Feinour of Jenkintown, PA; mother-in-law: Shirley Possinger of Stroudsburg; a niece and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother: Scott.

Services: Will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 18) in the Temple Covenant of Peace, 1451 Northampton St., Easton, PA; with a calling period from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Temple; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Herbert Tuxhorn

Herbert Tuxhorn, 97, of Crimora, VA died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 in his home. He was born April 11, 1916 in Newark, NJ.

Personal: He was employed by the New Jersey Department of Transportation for 30 years before retiring and had been a Scout Master in Vienna, NJ.

Memberships: He was a member of the Rangers; Trenton Consistory; F & AM, Phillipsburg Lodge where he was Worshipful Master in ’63, ’76, and ’77; he was a Grand Tall in ’60 for Tall Cedars Lodge #14. He was also a member of: the Order of the Arrow; the 4-H Club; past-president of the Square Club in Trenton and a FFA life member.

Survivors: His companion of 22 years: Mildred Armentrout; sons: Barry and Darryl; step-children: Jerry, Marilyn and Diane;  Mildred’s children: Ronald, Joyce and Sandra; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by wives: Mary (Hull) and Evelyn (Sandt).

Services: Will be held Graveside 11:00 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 14) at Forks Cemetery, Sullivan Trail, Stockertown; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Evelyn R. Gold

Evelyn R. Gold, 84, of Forks Twp., PA died Monday, December 9, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg.

Born: November 18, 1929 in Bangor, PA she was a daughter of the late Roger and Hattie (Tucker) Gist.

Memberships: She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Forks Twp., the Keenagers  and the Red Hat Society.

Survivors: A daughter: Kathy Belkey and her husband Larry of Williams Twp., PA; 3 sons: Dennis Gold and his wife Linda of Stockertown, PA; Terry Gold and his wife Ruth of Bushkill Twp., PA; Bruce Gold of Greensboro, NC; 2 brothers: Roger Gist of Martins Creek, PA; Michael Gist of Bangor, PA; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband: Alvin L. Gold; a sister: Maitland Eure and brothers: Elwood, Jim and Leighton Gist. 

Services: A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday (Dec. 13) in Faith Lutheran Church, 2012 Sullivan Trail, Forks Twp., PA. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements. Interment will be private in the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bushkill Center.
