Thomas F. Barton, III

Thomas F. Barton, III, 61, of Easton died Monday, August 6, 2012 in Somers Point, NJ.

Born: June 13, 1951 in Easton he was the son of Elizabeth Hagenbach Barton of Palmer Twp. and the late Thomas F. Barton, Jr.

Personal: A 1969 graduate of Wilson High School, he was the President of Leigh Fuel Corp.

Memberships: He was a member of St. Peter’s UCC, Tatamy; a 20 year member of the Kiwanis Club of Easton  where he twice served as President, and chaired the Soap Box Derby, Kids Casting Tournament, Shad Tournament, Derriere in the Delaware, reading to first graders in the Easton School District, and was one of three legacies within the club. He was on the Easton Kiwanis Foundation Board and was instrumental in procuring a new scoreboard for the Boys and Girls Club of Easton.

Survivors: His mother: “Betty”; daughters: Jenna of Williams Twp.; Elizabeth of Royersford; sisters: Marsha Miller of Fairfax, VA; Patricia Lebresco and her husband Nicholas of West Chester; Carol Recker and her husband Glenn of Allentown; 7 nephews; 9 grandnieces and nephews and granddog: Roxi.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday (8/11) in St. Peter’s UCC, 401 Broad St., Tatamy; with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.

Catherine T. Tigar

August 4, 2012

Catherine T. Tigar, 75, of Phillipsburg, NJ died Saturday, August 4, 2012 in her home.

Born: October 26, 1936 in Easton she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Edith Scheetz.

Survivors: 4 daughters: Vivian Gruhler, Joann Shoemaker both of Bloomsbury; Diana Tigar of Easton; Cynthia Tigar of Phillipsburg; brothers: Pete and Gerald Scheetz; sister: Pat Harrison; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Alvin L. and brother: Tom.

Services: Mass 1 p.m. Monday (8/13) in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Davis St., Easton with a calling period from 12:30 to 1 p.m. in the church; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Harmony, NJ.

James L. Bauchspies

August 3, 2012

James L. Bauchspies, 47, of Wilson Borough, died Friday, August 3, 2012 in St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Born:  March 3, 1965 in Easton, he was a son of James T. Bauchspies of Easton and the late Ellen J. (Frey) Bauchspies.

Personal:  He was a carpenter and served in the Army Reserve.

Survivors:  father, James;  wife, Teresa (Good) Bauchspies; two daughters, Rachael E. and Megan N. Bauchspies at home; a brother, Paul T. Bauchspies of Easton and a sister, Sondra L. Bauchspies of Wilson Borough.  A brother, Robert A. Bauchspies died earlier.

Services:  A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, August 6 at the Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Lillian M. Everitt

August 1, 2012

Lillian M. Everitt, 86, of Wilson Borough died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg.

Born:  April 18, 1926 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late William and Bertha (Repscher) Burns.

Personal:  Her husband, Levere E. Everitt, Sr. died in 1982.  She was an avid reader and made frequent visits to Mary Meuser Library.

Survivors:  two daughters, Candy Jumbo of Spring City, PA and Linda Bohn of Fountain Hills, AZ; two sons, Levere E. Everitt, Jr. of Wildwood, FL and Barry W. Everitt, Sr. of W. Easton; a sister; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and a great great grandson.

Services:  Services will be held on Monday at 10:30 am in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Call on Sunday from 6 – 7:30 pm in the funeral home.

Frank G. Beam

August 1, 2012

Frank G. Beam, 56 of Wilson Borough died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus.

Born: July 16, 1956 in Allentown he was a son of Frank F. Beam of Easton and the late Shirley Ahart Beam. He and his wife the former Rita Smith had been married for 21 years.

Personal: He had been employed by Lifetime Doors and also worked in the roofing and home improvement business. He enjoyed fishing, music and riding his Harley.

Memberships: He was a member of the Avona Fire House and former member of the Fleas and Safety First Co.

Survivors: His father; his wife; daughters: Christi Fitzpatrick of Wilson; Heidi DePuy of Easton; brother: Richard of Allentown; sisters: Justine Reuben of Wilson; Sherri Jones of Saylorsburg, Sandra Cann in CA; 9 grandchildren; his dog Harlee Girl and cat: Chooch. He was predeceased by a brother: Keith Ahart.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (8/7) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton with visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Verna G. Voorhees

Verna G. Voorhees, 93, of Nazareth, formerly of Easton died Monday, July 30, 2012 in St. Luke’s VNA Hospice House.

Born: June 13, 1919 in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late John and Marion Seibel Klenach.

Personal: A 1937 graduate of Easton High School, she had been employed by Lehr Furniture (Fullerton Galleries) in Easton for 43 years before retiring.

Memberships: She was a member of St. John’s UCC, Nazareth and former member of Memorial UCC, Wilson, where she served on the Altar Guild, in the Choir, as an Elder and Deacon and in their office.

Services: Graveside, 11:30 a.m. Thursday (8/2), in Easton Heights Cemetery, N. 10th St., Easton; the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Janet M. Wisniewski

Janet M. Wisniewski, 72, of Palmer Township, died Saturday, July 28, 2012 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus.

Born:  June 21, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Frances (McCarthy) Wisniewski.

Personal:  She worked for Clinton Honda.

Survivors:  A daughter, Susan Kroemmelbein and her husband, Mark; a son, Steven Subervi and a granddaughter, Lauren.

Services:  Private. The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Raymond L. Howe

July 25, 2012

Raymond L. Howe, 80, of Easton, PA died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in his home.

Born: July 19, 1932 in New Haven, CT he was the son of the late Dr. Merrill L. and Lillian Dunn Howe.

Personal: He was a 1954 graduate of Lafayette College  where he served as Asst. Dir. of Admissions ’54 to ‘55 and Asst. Alumni Sec. from ‘58 to ‘60. He retired from the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission in 1998. Prior to that he founded Bethlehem Paving Co. and was employed by Frank B. Saylor Co. and Transdata Inc. He had also been a 1st Lt. in the Army Infantry.

Memberships: He was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Palmer; American Legion; Theta Delta Chi Fraternity serving as their Exec. Sec. and he was the Historian for EHS Class of 1950. He rose to numerous leadership positions in the local and county Republican Party, starting as a precinct Committeeman, he was Easton City Chairman, Northampton County Vice-Chairman and Budget Chairman, and received its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. In these positions he was a consultant to many candidates and elected officials.

Survivors: Cousins; members of Easton HS Class of 1950; many friends and colleagues.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (7/31) in the church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Easton with visitation from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
