Andrew C. Rabbat

Andrew C. Rabbat, 51, of Mt. Bethel, PA died suddenly Sunday, January 13, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, PA.

Born: August 28, 1961 in Passaic, NJ he was a son of Barbara Basinski Rabbat of Lincoln Park, NJ and the late William F. Rabbat.

Personal: A graduate of St. Peter’s Prep School and NYU, he was the owner and founder of Andy’s Family Music Center in Livingston, NJ. He had been a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts, Troop #14 and Troop #317 in Bethlehem, he was also a member of Delta Phi Epsilon.

Survivors: His mother; his wife of 17 years: the former Loren Savakus; children: Callum Malone of Bethlehem; Ariel Malone of Hackensack, NJ; Kareem and Aliyah Rabbat both at home; brother: Victor Rabbat of Wantage, NJ; sister: Maria Rabat of Montclair, NJ; 2 grandchildren: Cameron and Calum; nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Services: A Celebration of His Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20th at the C.E. Building, located behind Central Moravian Church, on the Moravian Academy Lower School Campus, 422 Heckewelder Ave., Bethlehem, PA.  A Memorial Mass will be also be held at 9:00 AM Sunday, January 20th at St. Anne’s Melkite Catholic Church, Rifle Camp Rd. in West Paterson, NJ.  Family and friends are invited to attend one or both of the services.

Lee R. Sandt

January 13, 2013

Lee R. Sandt, 71, of Palmer Township, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 in Easton Hospital.  He was a son of the late Richard and Myrtle (Grant) Sandt.

Personal:   Lee was the owner of Sandt’s Honey Co., Forks Township and was a 1959 graduate of Washington High School.  Lee was an avid San Francisco Giants fan and greatly enjoyed following the stock market.

Survivors:  His wife, the former Linda Kryworuchko; a son, Lee M. Sandt and his wife, Krista of Bethlehem Township; a sister, Roseann Sandt of Florida and three grandsons, Layne, Kameron and Tanner.

Services:  A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 – 6:30 pm in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be in Arndt’s Cemetery, Forks Township.

Barbara A. Layfield

Barbara A. Layfield, 75, of Palmer Twp., died Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Easton Hospital.

Born: May 21, 1937 in Boston, Mass she was a daughter of the late Walter and Beatrice Smith Blomquist.   Personal: She had been employed by Woolworths in Easton for several years before retiring and in the garment industry prior that.

Survivors: Sons: James R. and his wife Colleen of Bethlehem; Robert W. of Palmer Twp.; daughters: Linda Zimmermann and her husband Ron of Glendale, AZ; Debbie Tomlinson of Avon, OH; sisters: Virginia and Carol and 6 grandchildren: William, Erick, Amy, Kevin, Kurt and Adam. She was predeceased by her husband Robert L. in 2009 and son: Thomas A. in 1984.

Services: Will be held 11 a.m. Thursday (1/17) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Sts., Easton with visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.

Mardoqueo Adame, 71, of Easton died Friday, January 11, 2013 in Warren Hospital.

Born: July 10, 1941 in Columbia he was a son of the late Mardoqueo and Aracelly Adame.

Personal: He had been a truck driver most of his life for various companies.

Memberships: He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.

Survivors: His wife; children; grandchildren; brothers and sisters.

Services:  A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday (1/15) in St. Bernard’s Oratory, 132 S. 5th St. followed by a gathering from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.

Martha S. Lear

January 10, 2013

Martha S. Lear, 87, of Wilson Borough died Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Gracedale.

Born: October 6, 1925 in West Easton, PA she was a daughter of the late Paul and Catherine (Toth) Pizarie. Her husband Albert H. Lear died in 1996.

Personal: She had been employed by the Lafayette Hotel before retiring and was a volunteer for the Deborah Heart and Lung Association.

Memberships: She was a member of the Wilson Borough Republican Club; West Easton Athletic Assoc.; AARP, Palmer; St. Philip and St. James Over 50 Club; Ambassador Club and Easton Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors: A daughter: April L. Miller and her husband Richard of Roseto; a sister: Agnes Matthews of Wilson Borough; 2 granddaughters: Kristina and Brittany Miller; a great-grandson: Jace Michael Miller; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband: Albert and 8 brothers and sisters.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (1/16) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, with a calling period from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Lisa A. Bogdon-Norton, 49, of Easton died January 10, 2013 in Muhlenberg Hospital.

Born: December 15, 1963 in San Angelo, TX she was the daughter of Ronald and Patricia Lynch Bogdon.

Personal: She had been employed by Bardot Plastics and was an animal lover.

Survivors: Parents; fiancé: Edward Norton; brothers: Brian and Ronald; her cat: EJ and best friend: Carol Doren.

Walter M. Oren

January 8, 2013

Walter Mills Oren, 90, of Easton passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in Easton Hospital.

Born: May 20, 1922 in a home on Monroe St. in Easton, he was a son of the late George and Helen (Paff ) Oren.

Personal: Walter and his beloved wife, Alma Marie (Gulick) Oren were married for 64 years, residing the last 58 years in Forks Twp. He was raised in Easton and Bangor, PA. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps at age 16 and honorably served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Walter worked for 39 years at the Hercules Cement Company as a heavy equipment operator in the quarry before retiring in 1990. He loved his work, his family and his country. In earlier years he was a boy scout master and active supporter of the VFW. He was a kind and humble man with an easy smile for everyone he met.

Memberships: He was a life member of VFW Post 1290, Easton.

Survivors: His wife, Alma; 3 sons: Ronald and his wife Cyndi of McAfee, NJ; Rodney of Breinigsville, PA; Rodger and his wife Mary of Nashville, TN; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Services: Will be held 10 a.m. Monday (1/14) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton; with visitation from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park.

Warren M. Hyde

Warren M. Hyde, 61, of Stockertown, formerly of Lyndhurst, NJ, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in his home.

Born:  May 6, 1951 in Syracuse, NY, he was a son of the late LeVan and Marie (Golian) Hyde.

Personal:  He was a computer network supervisor for Mediterranean Shipping Company, Warren, NJ.

Memberships:  He was a member of the Slate Belt Corvette Club.

Survivors:  Two brothers, Jonathan Hyde and Michael Hyde.

Services:  8:30 pm Monday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.  Visitation from 7:00 pm until service time Monday in the funeral home.
