Mary Jane Hawk

Mary Jane Hawk, 68, of Bethlehem,  formerly of Easton, passed away peacefully Monday, December 17, 2012 in ManorCare, Palmer Twp. surrounded by her husband and loving friends.

Born: October 29, 1944 in Easton she was a daughter of the late Louis and Theresa Leanza Curto.

Personal: A 1963 graduate of Notre Dame HS, she worked as a hair dresser at Orr’s of Easton, the Imperial Coiffures, Rene’s and 42 N. 2nd Street. After receiving her para-legal certificate, she worked for Catholic Social Services  and the Hunterdon Developmental Center in Clinton.  Mary Jane loved cooking with her husband for family and friends and just celebrated her 38th wedding anniversary.

Survivors: Her loving husband: Kirk W. Hawk; brother: Vincent and his wife Pamela in FL; brother and sisters-in-law: Rebecca Hawk, Barbara Tipton; Douglas Hawk all in TN; and her chosen family of close friends: Joe M., George, Jack, Stu, Sisty, Joe G., Ronnie and Eileen, plus many more friends and associates.

Services: A Memorial Service will be held, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, with a calling period from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

Anna E. Gerspach

Anna E. Gerspach, 90, of Palmer Township died Monday, December 17, 2012 in her home.

Born:  January 22, 1922 in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Rodney and Martha (Kessler) Holden.

Personal:  Her husband, John E. Gerspach died in 1998. She worked at Binney and Smith, Easton.

Survivors:  Anna was the loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother of two daughters, Louise Durand and her fiancé, Lloyd and Martha Willis and her husband, Mark; two sons, Michael Genua and his wife, Debbie and Bernard Genua, Jr.; five grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

Services:  Services will be private.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Lois R. Stutz, 64, of Easton died Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Manor Care Health Services, Palmer Twp.

Personal: She had worked at the Crayola Factory in Easton and was of the Methodist faith. She loved puzzles, reading, music and learning new things.

Survivors: Caregivers.

Services: Will be private; the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Sts., Easton is handling the arrangements.

Mary LaVerne Evans

Mary LaVerne Evans

Mary LaVerne Evans, 85, of Palmer Township, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Kirkland Village.

Born:  April 2, 1927 in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Harry E. and Ruth (Moses) Jones.

Personal:  Her husband, Ralph Evans died in 1980.  She formerly worked at the Clover Store in the Palmer Mall and the Inn-Trigue restaurant, Palmer Township.  She was a graduate of Moosic High School and served on the Women’s Board of Easton Hospital.

Memberships:  She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Borough and the Deborah Circle.  She was also a member of the Easton Bowling Mother’s, the URW Club and several book clubs.  LaVerne was an accomplished watercolorist and painted regularly with a group in Stockertown.

Survivors:  A son, Ralph Evans of Wilson Borough; three daughters, Gwenn Wells of Bethlehem, Beth Valocchi of Downingtown and Wendy Totani of Bethlehem Township; three brothers, David, Robert and Russell Jones; nine grandchildren and a great grandson.  Two sisters, Beth Hubbs and Jane Jones died earlier.

Services:  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 28 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2115 Washington Blvd., Wilson Borough.  The Ashton Funeral Home, Easton is handling the arrangements.

Memorials:  In lieu of flowers, it was LaVerne’s wish that you remember her with acts of kindness to others in her memory.

Christopher L. Bubak

Christopher L. Bubak, 42, of Easton, formerly of Queens, NY died Friday, December 14, 2012 in Easton Hospital.

Born:  October 3, 1970 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of Charles Bubak of Easton and the late Frances (Tisi) Bubak.

Survivors:  father, Charles; wife, Jacqueline Fitzsimmons; sons, Christopher, Christian and Craig and brother, Charles, Jr.

Robert J. Seibel

December 9, 2012

Robert J. Seibel, 85, of Palmer Township died Sunday, December 9, 2012 in New Eastwood Care Center.

Born:  September 12, 1927 in Easton, he was a son of the late Clifford and Ruth (Rodenbach) Seibel.

Personal:  His wife, the former Margaret E. “Peggy” Freer died in 2006.  He was a retired U.C.C. lay minister and was an assistant to Pastor Hanson at the former Memorial United Church of Christ, Wilson Borough.  He was a volunteer clergy at several local nursing homes.  Prior to retirement he was a house parent at the Wiley House, Bethlehem.  He graduated from Easton High School in 1946, served as a Corporal in the Army during WWII and was a radio operator in the Panama Canal Zone.  He was also an avid organ player.

Memberships:  He was a lifelong member of Memorial United Church of Christ, Wilson Borough where he served as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, superintendent and lector.

Survivors:  His daughter, Melissa “Lisa” Palma and her husband, Angelo of Palmer Township; a granddaughter, Tiffany Palma of Palmer Township and two sisters, Dorothy Grube and her husband, Pete of Florida and Helen Sands and her husband, Joe of Phillipsburg.  A brother, Clifford Seibel; two sisters, Evelyn Diehl and Marjorie Curtis and his twin sister, Roberta Lyons died earlier.

Services:  10:00 am Thursday (12/13) in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton.   Call from 9:00 am until service time Thursday in the funeral home.

Helen K. Miller

Helen K. Miller, 95, of Wilson Borough died Saturday, December 8, 2012 in Gracedale.

Born: February 16, 1917 in Monessen, PA she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Kromko. Her husband Herbert W. Miller, Jr. died in 1998.

Personal: She had been employed by the Wilson School District in the cafeteria for many years before retiring. Prior to that she was employed by the former Dixie Cup Co.

Memberships: She was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Palmer Twp.

Survivors: 3 sons: Herbert W., III and his wife Shirley; Kim K. and his wife Sharon all of Wilson Borough; Larry L. of Allentown and 2 grandsons: Jack and Kevin.

Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (12/12) in the church, 4049 Hartley Avenue, Palmer Twp., with a calling period from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Sts., Easton. Interment will be in the Northampton Memorial Shrine.
