N. Virginia Wieder, 88, of Bethlehem Twp. died Thursday, September 29, 2011 in her home.

Personal: She had been employed by the Director of Administration for Northampton County and by the Henry Lehr Insurance Co. for many years before retiring.

Memberships: She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Borough.

Survivors: Her husband of 47 years: Theodore Wieder; daughter: Virginia Ann (Gaffney) Bissig and her husband Dennis of Parsippany, NJ; a sister Helen Zielstorff of Bethlehem Twp.; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Services: Services will be private.

Niki Patronis

September 28, 2011

Niki Patronis, 48, of Wilson Borough died peacefully with family by her side, Wednesday September 28, 2011 at Easton Hospital

Born: March 3, 1963 in Washington, DC she was the daughter of Konstantinos and Vaso Karanikas Patronis with whom she resided.

Personal: A 1981 graduate of Wilson High School, she had been employed by Easton Hospital for 27 years.

Memberships: She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Wilson Borough.

Survivors: Her parents; daughters: Maria Campbell of Pen Argyl; Sofia Griffith at home; a brother: George Patronis of Wilson Borough; and a grandson: Kevin Campbell. She was predeceased by a sister Sofia Brotzman.

Services: Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday in the Church, 319 S. 20th St., Easton, Trisagion Service at 8 p.m.; interment will be private.

Memorial Contributions: may be made for her daughter’s college education: Sofia L. Griffith Trust Fund, c/o Lafayette Ambassador Bank, 1800 Butler St., Easton, PA 18042.

William E. Holden, Sr.

September 28, 2011

William E. Holden, Sr., 89, of Palmer Township, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in Easton Hospital.

Born: April 22, 1922 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Harry B. Holden and Grace E. (Loudenberry) Frace.

Personal: He and his wife, the former Helen R. Hoover were married 69 years. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1939 and served in the Army during WWII.  He worked for L & M Fabrication, Bath until retiring in 2009. Prior to that he worked for Nazareth Steel Fabricators.

Memberships: He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson Borough and served on church council. He was a Boy Scout leader with Troop #4, Wilson Borough and was a member of Phillipsburg Lodge 52, F & AM; Easton Forest #35, Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Valley of Allentown Consistory; Good Fellows Club, Bethlehem; William Parsons Chapter #185, Order of Eastern Star, Easton and American Legion, Brown and Lynch  Post #9, Palmer Township.

Survivors: wife, Helen; daughter, Alice M. Pflugler and her husband, Robert of Nazareth; son, William E. Holden, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Plainfield Twp.; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Services: 1:00 pm Saturday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Call from noon until service time in the funeral home.

Contributions: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Helen L. Stotz

September 26, 2011

Helen L. Stotz, 96, formerly of Forks Twp., PA died Monday, September 26, 2011 in St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem.

Born: April 4, 1915 in Easton she was a daughter of the late Paul and Petronella Kawezky Lukausky. Her husband, Vincent G. Stotz died in Sept. of 1998.

Personal: She had been employed by the former Falk’s Food Basket in Forks Twp. and the silk mill in Easton for several years. She also volunteered at Easton Hospital and for Meals on Wheels.

Memberships: She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Easton; AARP; and Senior Circle

Survivors: son: William A. Stotz and his fiancée Jacqueline A. Parker of Bethlehem and a sister Polly Ann Skears.

Services: will be graveside 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Twp.

Memorial Contributions: may be made to First UCC, 27 N. 3rd Street, Easton, PA 18042.

Ruth K. Lamb

September 24, 2011

Ruth K. Lamb, 79, of Easton died Saturday, September 24, 2011 in Easton Hospital.

Personal: An avid  bingo player, she loved Atlantic City, traveling  and  Canada.

Survivors: Children: Bill, Joe, Jim, Dorothy and Debbie; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services: No services per her request.

Donald McCluskey

September 20, 2011

Donald McCluskey, 96, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Kirkland Village, Bethlehem.

Born: March 28, 1915 in Easton he was a son of the late Hon. Frank P.  and Alice Riddle McCluskey.

Personal: A 1932 graduate of Easton High School, he earned a B.A. degree at Lafayette College in 1936 and a doctorate in English literature at Yale University in 1941. He served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army Service Forces from 1941 to 1945. From 1946 to 1981 he was a professor of English literature at Lafayette College. He also studied at Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English, Columbia University, the University of Michigan and the Linguistic Institute of Georgetown University. He had a special interest in languages, studying Latin, Greek, Sanskrit, French, German, Spanish and Russian.

Memberships: He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Easton; the Modern Language Association,  the Linguistic Society of America; the American Association of University Professors and a Life Member of Dallas-Lafayette Lodge # 396, F&AM.

Survivors: Dr. McCluskey is survived by Alice, Clint, Nora and Sam Palmer; Peggy Palmer and Paul Felder; Fallon, Peter James, Jennifer, Jake, Charlotte and Dylan Maggio; Pat, Monica, Megan, Patrick and Winnie McCluskey. 

Services: Will be private. Interment will be in Easton Cemetery.

Memorials: The family requests memorials be sent to the Skillman Library of Lafayette College or VNA Hospice of St. Luke’s, 1510 Valley Center Parkway, Suite 200, Bethlehem, PA 18017.

Beulah Mae Young

Beulah Mae Young, 111, formerly of Wilson Borough passed away peacefully with God by her side Monday, September 19, 2011 in Gracedale.

Born: August 18, 1900 in South Bethlehem she was a daughter of the late Carrie Miller. Her husband George W. Young died in 1954.

Personal: She had been employed by Redington Fuse Plant, Bloomsbury Elementary School, Taylor Wharton and Eastern Overall Industries. Dedicated to her 6 children and her younger brother whom she raised, she will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends.

Membership: Pocono Writers Association.

Survivors: children: Marjorie Schlough and George Young of Palmer Twp.; Marilyn Smith of FL; Charles Young and his wife Betty of Forks Twp.; John Young of Blakeslee; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son: Richard Young; her brother: Robert Ward; grandsons: Michael and Greg and great-granddaughter: Jennifer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Forks Cemetery.

Carol Ann Susswein

Carol Ann Susswein, 65, of Easton died Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Gracedale.

Born: April 18, 1946 in Lackawanna, NY, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Elizabeth Benway Eckhardt.

Personal: She had been a teacher s aide at Northampton Community College for several years. A very creative woman, Carol loved arts and crafts and as a young girl was an avid equestrian.

Memberships: She had been a member of Our Lady of Mercy (St. Bernard s) Catholic Church, Easton.

Services: Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St., Easton. Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Cemetery, Hamburg, NY.
