Sean Michael Ulmer

February 8, 2025

Sean Michael Ulmer of Easton died Feb. 8 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of esophageal cancer. He was 46, and leaves his loving wife, Amanda Ulmer, sons Logan, 9 and Declan, 7 and their faithful dogs Piper and Gizzie. Amanda was at his side when he died.

Sean was a licensed HVAC technician with Binsky Service and was very proud of the work he did. Sean very much enjoyed working with all of his coworkers. Sean was also a fixer, he was always able to tackle and fix any problem, whether it was a home improvement project or talking something out, he could fix anything for his family. He was outgoing and made friends easily, owing to his casual manner and his wry sense of humor. Amanda loved his sarcastic nature and will miss the way he made her laugh. He loved striking up conversation with anyone at anytime. He loved to talk and make jokes with anyone he met. He had a way of making people feel seen in the way he spoke with them.

He loved golfing and was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Giants, Detroit Tigers, and Notre Dame. He was an avid reader, particularly of thrillers and the Harry Potter series. His favorite Harry Potter character was Severus Snape. Sean was also a major “foodie” who watched cooking shows and followed recipes precisely. Sean also enjoyed going to sprint car races and it was always a family affair. He enjoyed going with his dad, Carl, and cousin, Drew. Most recently he took Logan to a race, which was a lot of fun for them both.

He met Amanda Smickle in 2012 at the Mediterranean Bistro, where he stopped for a beer with friends and she was his bartender. They had an immediate connection in April and they had their first “real date” in July, and their relationship blossomed quickly and they were engaged in December of the same year. They were married in March of 2014 (321) and over the last 11 years they doted on each other and cherished their sons. Sean’s mother and sisters quip that they knew his relationship with Amanda was serious when Sean ditched the Giants T-shirts for polo shirts on date nights and family events.

Everyone could see that he was a zealous Dad who was dedicated to his boys. He was very involved in their activities including coaching both of the boys’ soccer teams. He was also very involved with the boys’ activities as part of the Boy Scouts. They participated in the Pinewood Derby and he volunteered to help out with the activities; most recently at the hot chocolate booth for the Easton Winter Village. Sean loved to take the boys to different events that were going on in the Easton area. There was rarely a weekend that did not involve an outing with the boys. He was a loving and devoted father, who will be missed dearly by his sons.

He was an active member of the community along with Amanda and the boys. He was a member of the College Hill Presbyterian Church in Easton.

He is also survived by his mother, Jaylene Regan; father, Carl Ulmer Jr.; stepmother Linda Ulmer; father-in-law Jack Smickle; mother-in-law Sharon Smickle; sisters Courtney Ulmer and Melissa Regan and brothers-in-law Troy Augusthy, Shane Hoffert, and John Smickle and grandmother Olga Mazeika. He was predeceased by his stepfather Christopher Regan.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00pm on Sunday, February 16, 2025 in the Ashton Funeral Home, 1337 Northampton St. Easton PA. Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 17, 2025 in College Hill Presbyterian Church, 501 Brodhead St., Easton PA. A reception will follow the services on Monday at the College Hill Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private at Easton Cemetery.
